Thanks for that. Saved me buying it, and having to redo my cable management.
I have decided I will just buy the 4tb seagate and sell the 3tb.

Re: Are HD motors noisy or am I just used to SSD's ?
Thanks for the info flemeister. On 2nd thought, yes, that GUP Classic is way too expensive. Could get another 3TB drive for that, in an external enclosure. What about the Scythe Himuro. Probably not as quiet but looks like the rubber things to mount it will decouple it from the chassis. Definitely c...

Re: Are HD motors noisy or am I just used to SSD's ?
Thinking of getting something like this http://quietpc.co.uk/smartdrive-classic Its not seek noise that annoys me, its the motor noise. My pc sounds so quiet to me when I'm just browsing the web, that the noise of the HD motor ruins it for me. Hoping an internal enclosure will muffle this noise some...

Are HD motors noisy or am I just used to SSD's ?
Recently added a 3tb seagate and when I boot up, you can hear the drive powering up (not surprising over the side mesh on the haf-x m), but then there is a constant motor noise. Same on the 1tb seagate I tried but not as loud. So now I have to make the drive sleep after a couple of minutes to quiete...

I have both. The Samsung wins in performance easily and is just as quiet as the WD. http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=59946 See last post for some benches. The cache makes no difference. Also, since June alot of places are shipping the WDEARS with the same platter density as the S...

I bought half of dozen of these drives, originally for media but they might replace my caviar blacks now as performance is pretty decent and they run quiet (most of the time) and cool. First off, I can hear them seek when I run the HDTune read test but they don't cause the case to hum like the black...

I have the ET850, part of my "futureproofing"..... damm good PSU for only a little over what some of the decent mid range ones cost, and much less than the Silverstone Zeus 850W which is basically a re-spin of it. I have this psu as well and an Akasa Eclipse with Noctua 1200's in front and back (mo...

Hmmm...my friend has been using this case for a little while now and I take back a lot of what I said.....so much so I made the switch myself from a P180 to an aurora the other day. For a no. of reasons - p180 too heavy, front door buldge annoying me, chipset cooling only average, cable management a...

Silver or Black P180
Overclockers.co.uk has the black p180 in stock now....same price as regular one which I own...can't make up my mind which I prefer. Once thing I dont like about the silver is it smudges quite easily though not as bad as some glossy cases. Oh..and my front door has a bend, though not as bad as some I...

P180 and X-Fi Fatal1ty drive bay
Not a question related to silence (sorry) but as there are so many P180 users in this forum I said I would take a chance.
Basically I would like to know if you intall the X-Fi fatal1ty drive bay in the p180 is is possible to close the front door or do the knobs on the drive bay stick out too much.

Ok..I bought an Aurora for a build I was doing for a friend. Yes the fans are extremely quiet...but only do 1k rpm, and they have a slight buzzing. Would still prefer Nexus jobs to them. I think the aluminium on the case is rubbish too...it's very very thin. Just tip it with your finger and it rever...

Wow...thx for that clever idea. Will try it this weekend. The main thing blocking airflow for me is the big bulky enermax psu and atx cables...but overall not too bad. also I did manage to wire the sata and power cables going to the drives very similar to yourself. but your idea sounds like it would...

Well, I have pretty much finished getting me system right. I ended up with 3 tricools in the upper bay - all 3 running at medium speed. And the 38mm thick tricool also running at medium in the bottom bay. Also braided all the cables on my enermax with some 4mm black spiral wrap. Also running the vga...

Thx. for the tips Freelancer77. I think you are right about the AS5 bedding in. I had to remove my papst cpu fan last night and put back in the acoustifan. The papst for some reason started making a weird buzzing noise. Anyway, cpu temps are no different despite the papst doing 36cfm versus the Acou...

Made a couple small improvements. Replaced the Acoutifan on my cpu with a Papst...about 1 db louder, but pushes a bit more air...my cpu is idling at 32/33 now which is pretty decent for an FX57 and under Sisfofts cd burnin gets to around 49 max. Also managed to move Soundcard to bottom pci slot (cab...

I just transplaented my rig into a P180, and have an A8N Premium and Enermax 600w sli. The atx cable fitted with room to spare. Thx for all the good advice. A few things : 1. I have both top blowhole fan and rear fan set to exhaust. 2. My cpu is sitting at 34-36 idle, and maxes at 52 under 100% load (superpi, sisoft burnin). Happy enough with that. Was same in last setup. Using a 92mm Acoustifan (only 29cfm) at 12v and its p...

Help! Temps up with P180
Just transplanted my system to a new P180 last night, and while I am happy with the noise and cpu temps, the mobotemps and gpu temps worry me a bit. See below for summary. I can only assume the fact I had a mesh sidepanel in my old case helped it breath and the 120mm sidefan cooled my gpu's. It woul...

Yes...I have these new 120mm Acouti dustproof fans and am impressed. Mainly because I believe there claims about the airflow. They definitley cool my system a hell of a lot better then the Nexus ever did. Simply put your hand up to these at 12v and you can feel the airflow. However noise wise they a...

Nexus 120mm at 10v
Have a few Akasa resistor cables designed to slow fans down by running them at 10v. Was wondering if these are safe to use on my Nexus 120mm fans. They are too loud for me at 12v, and don't cool well enough I think at 7v. Don't even start at 5v. What you reckon - would 10v be safe ?
