Re: Are HD motors noisy or am I just used to SSD's ?

Thanks for that. Saved me buying it, and having to redo my cable management.

I have decided I will just buy the 4tb seagate and sell the 3tb.

Re: Are HD motors noisy or am I just used to SSD's ?

Thanks for the info flemeister. On 2nd thought, yes, that GUP Classic is way too expensive. Could get another 3TB drive for that, in an external enclosure. What about the Scythe Himuro. Probably not as quiet but looks like the rubber things to mount it will decouple it from the chassis. Definitely c...

Re: Are HD motors noisy or am I just used to SSD's ?

Thinking of getting something like this http://quietpc.co.uk/smartdrive-classic Its not seek noise that annoys me, its the motor noise. My pc sounds so quiet to me when I'm just browsing the web, that the noise of the HD motor ruins it for me. Hoping an internal enclosure will muffle this noise some...

Are HD motors noisy or am I just used to SSD's ?

Recently added a 3tb seagate and when I boot up, you can hear the drive powering up (not surprising over the side mesh on the haf-x m), but then there is a constant motor noise. Same on the 1tb seagate I tried but not as loud. So now I have to make the drive sleep after a couple of minutes to quiete...

I bought half of dozen of these drives, originally for media but they might replace my caviar blacks now as performance is pretty decent and they run quiet (most of the time) and cool. First off, I can hear them seek when I run the HDTune read test but they don't cause the case to hum like the black...

I have this psu as well and an Akasa Eclipse with Noctua 1200's in front and back (mo...

Silver or Black P180

Overclockers.co.uk has the black p180 in stock now....same price as regular one which I own...can't make up my mind which I prefer. Once thing I dont like about the silver is it smudges quite easily though not as bad as some glossy cases. Oh..and my front door has a bend, though not as bad as some I...

P180 and X-Fi Fatal1ty drive bay

Not a question related to silence (sorry) but as there are so many P180 users in this forum I said I would take a chance.

Basically I would like to know if you intall the X-Fi fatal1ty drive bay in the p180 is is possible to close the front door or do the knobs on the drive bay stick out too much.

Ok..I bought an Aurora for a build I was doing for a friend. Yes the fans are extremely quiet...but only do 1k rpm, and they have a slight buzzing. Would still prefer Nexus jobs to them. I think the aluminium on the case is rubbish too...it's very very thin. Just tip it with your finger and it rever...

Made a couple small improvements. Replaced the Acoutifan on my cpu with a Papst...about 1 db louder, but pushes a bit more air...my cpu is idling at 32/33 now which is pretty decent for an FX57 and under Sisfofts cd burnin gets to around 49 max. Also managed to move Soundcard to bottom pci slot (cab...

Help! Temps up with P180

Just transplanted my system to a new P180 last night, and while I am happy with the noise and cpu temps, the mobotemps and gpu temps worry me a bit. See below for summary. Well, I found them ok anyway. If you are used to Nexus fans I guess they are a bit whiney, although nowhere near as bad as those Vantec stealths. But at 7v I found the fan noise almost unnoticeable.

Nexus 120mm at 10v

Have a few Akasa resistor cables designed to slow fans down by running them at 10v. Was wondering if these are safe to use on my Nexus 120mm fans. They are too loud for me at 12v, and don't cool well enough I think at 7v. Don't even start at 5v. What you reckon - would 10v be safe ?
