In addition to motherboard, what CPU of the today available flora is the most energy efficient? So, what combo of MB + CPU would you recommend for a low power system?

Low power system with onboad DVI/GbLAN

Hi!

I want to build a small home server that I want to be low power since it's gonna be on 'round the clock. What chipset is the best for this these days? I'm thinking I want to go with a mATX-motherboard with onboard GPU, GbLAN, and DVI is a requirement. Any suggestions?

Has anyone else had problems using the two front USB-ports? On my case it seems as if the USB ports are too far inside the front bezel to be of any use. Both the devices I have tried to plu in (mp3-player and digital camera) have been unable to get full contact and get kind of twisted sideways becau...

Don't know if this has been posted, but it could warrant an update of the review. I just got my 3000b yesterday, and on it Antec has updated the front fan mount and added standard holes where the plastic fan mount is mounted. So now you can acctually mount any standard 120mm fan without having to dr...

Thanks for the answers people. I guess it might be what you describe here Tibors, or it could be some Windows services accessing the drive. Anyway, you guys have convinced me it's not the SMART system after all, so I guess I'll have to deal with this annoyance in some other way

Cheers!

Thanks for answering. What initialy led me to believe it might be the SMART software was this thread and this comment in particular: I suspect you're hearing the SMART disk testing routine that occurs at regular intervals. This is unrelated to I/O transfers to the operating system so no light showin...

Software for controlling SMART features?

Hi! I have a question about the SMART features of my HDs. I have two Seagate Barracudas (one 40GB IV, and one 160GB .7) in my compy, and I'm starting to get very annoyed at the fact that it seems that almost always one or the other is doing some form of check-up, probably related to SMART, making a ...

Thanks for reaplying! Maybe I wasn't clear enough: My first plan is to have both of the fans blowing out of the case, i.e. the front fan would be sucking warm air from the system across the HDs and out of the case, increasing the negative pressure of the case (I think I'm using negative pressure cor...

SLK3000B, Phantom and negative airpressure?

Hi! I am considering buying a SLK3000B case to complement my system. In this system I would have my Antec Phantom. I am one of the people who already has had one Phantom die on them, so as you can understand I'm a bit wary of not having enough airflow around the Phantom. My plan for the case is to h...

I am one of the people who reported a broken Phantom in the poll thread. I've since gotten my replacement and it works like a charm. Putting my ear to it I can hear some coil humming, but it's very very low noise, so nothing to be worried about. As for increased ventilation: the phantom seems to be ...

Was looking at this page: http://www.silentpcreview.com/article_index.php#cooling and clicked on the link for the XP-90 review but got the wrong article. It's linking to the Coolermaster Ultra Vortex HSF review (article 192) instead of the XP-90 one (article 194).

Mr. Richards got back to me as well. In a very polite e-mail he appologizes for the bad unit and wishes to reimburse me for my troubles. Grade A service that you can only applaud. Antec is really showing their colors in this matter. :D

I can only agree with ryogajyc: my reason for buying the phantom was the review on this site, and since I too am a newbie in the field of silent computing I haven't really had any good reasons to post before this. I must chime in here and state that OTP can have nothing to do with my phantom not running, since it had been turned off for an entire night and still wouldn't start... and it was not even luke warm when it failed.

LeadTek A400 GT + AC NV Silencer 5?

Has anyone tried this combination and could share their experiences? I have just recently bought this VGA card and was wondering about ease of removing the bundled heat sink and ease of applying the NV 5 to the card. Did you use a fan controller (like fanmate) and what is your temperature like now? ...
