Chang, even though you can adjust the fan speed with 2 wires you will still have no idea what is is spinning at so you will have to set it by best guess and sound vs cooling. Not the best setup... but not really that big a deal.

I want to thank each of you for the great information :) You guys are all great! I have learned so much in the past from this forum. I do have some yate loons DS12 SL 12's that I can use for comparison. I bought a box of ten of them a few years back that have never been used. I think I will go ahead...

Please share your favorite fan/s- Yate loon... Scythe?

I am building the system in signature, and need some fans. Right now I am thinking of adding some Scythe Slipstream or S-Flex, for the processor and case. What are some good fans you guys are using right now (model #'s please!) and what speeds? Last time I was at this site a couple of years ago, Yat...

Farns (edited), If you are currently using a TRUE, I don't know if any of these coolers will buy you any more room for your NB sink. I know the HR01 plus has about 40mm of clearance from the bottom of the sink but not sure about the Ninja. Your TRUE is already a fantastic HSF- unless you are trying ...

Modo, I would also add here that it would only make sense for a review site (Frosty tech) to keep the same thermal compounds for all sinks reviewed to reduce sample variance. If Noctua or some other manufacturer wants to claim improved performance, they should not rely on "special" considerations su...

Felger, Thanks for the information. I am still wondering though... if the temps for the newest design top-down coolers are close to the tower types (or within a few deg C) and the mobo components are kept cooler- VRMs, chipsets, and mem modules, then...all theories in air flow aside, does not the ad...

Bgavin, I am building a system and looking for a cooler as well. Thinking of a top-down cooler like the Zipang. Will it fit in a P182 case? Can you post some pics of your system with cooler in place? To anyone.... what is the advantage, other than easier access/convenience to mobo components to a to...

Need cooler recommendation

I am thinking of using the DFI P35 DK with this system under construction, but not sure what would be the best performing HSF to pair with it. I have heard that the NB is too large to accomodate a TRUE in vertical orientation, and not sure about horizontal or if I would even want to try that. I have...

Bluesun, you might look into the e3110 processor, which is supposed to be the equivalent "server grade" processor to the 8400 series and I have seen it available from a few places lately.

Thanks for the help Autoboy and QuietOC, I have looked for a card in the 7600GS range and they are all over $100. At that point, you might as well spend another $50 to move up to a higher card such as 7600GT or 7900GS, I really wish they would make some great sub-$100 cards! 7600GS prices should hav...

Biostar T-Force 6100 playable for WOW?

I am up-grading a 754 system to a 939 system with a Biostar 939 tForce 6100 M-ATX board. Does anyone know if this on-board video is powerful enough to play WOW on reasonable settings? This is a system for one of my kids so I am trying to keep costs down. If not, what is a good add in card for that p...

Need good cooler for Biostar 939 Tforce (6100) board

I am upgrading the system in my signature to 939 board (Biostar 939 Tforce 6100), with Opteron 144 processor and X1950 Pro videocard with large AC cooler. What are my best options for HSF that will work with this mobo? The cooler on the VC looks rather large so I hope it does not cause clearance pro...

Derek and Wolf, Thanks! Great options there that I will seriously consider. One of the reasons I am not keen on total rebuild is cost. I still want to get some more use out of the IDE drives. If I go to a 939 board, I could still do that but would also have to invest in a processor. An AM2 board wou...

Quiet- decent performance upgrade to older 754 based system

I need to upgrade the family PC used primarily for gaming and web surfing etc. The current configuration is in signature but the video card has died- hence the desire to upgrade. CKamc,
What type of processor are you running?- if its an A-64 it is highly unlikely that it is unable to feed data fast enough to your 6600GT.
