Arctic Silver 5 is outdated, there are much better options now. Check this recent Guru3D review:

Re: New AMD Ryzen 3000 chips leaked
Anyone else having flashbacks of the Zalman chipset heatsinks? Especially the blue one, where you'd have to "comb" it over sometimes to fit in a graphics card. Good times... It was the first thing I thought of. :) The ol' NB-47. The NB-47 is small, would overheat with 15W, and would probably block ...

Re: New AMD Ryzen 3000 chips leaked
Or, go back to the heatpipe based passive coolers. They have pipes, check MEG X570 GODLIKE , ... and even then they have fans, the problem is that everybody to be doing this fan thing is that the Chipset is running extremly hot, i still think it can be done passively, but probably its much cheaper ...

Re: New AMD Ryzen 3000 chips leaked
The "leaks" were overly optimistic, this is the real lineup (max 12 cores for now, maybe 16 cores reserved for a new Threadripper):

During the disclosure process of the lawsuit certain documents became public, this one seems interesting. The ERV's report on the 1MW plant test shows a variable COP between 50 and 140. http://www.e-catworld.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/197-03-Exhibit-3.pdf Other developments are in the area of th...

Re: Cold fusion ressurected?
I recently registered on JONP, in order to post a comment about the recent events and ask some questions I deemed relevant. Mr. Rossi decided the questions were too sensitive, and he edited them out of my comment, instead of just not answering them. I won't post those questions here for a whi...

Re: Samsung 950 Pro 512GB M.2 NVMe SSD
To me it seems that it would become cost effective only in a high file usage scenario, otherwise the 850 Pro is better value for money. And I have an issue with the placement of the M.2 connector on mobos, it's too close to either the CPU or GPU, while already running hot. The 950 Pro has adequate t...

At year's end, time to make some clarifications and add new information: The IP to the Rossi reactor and related work appears to be still the property of Leonardo Corporation, and Industrial Heat has invested about 10 M$. Also a British company, Woodford Equity Income Fund has invested more than IH,...

Re: Asus GTX 980 Ti Strix OC Graphics Card
According to TPU, MSI GTX 980 Ti Lightning is the fastest and quietest GeForce on the market. I'd want to see that reviewed by SPCR. Some claim that the samples sent to reviewers were cherry picked, and average retail 980 Ti Lightning are not so good. So in case of a SPCR review, it would be wise t...

I have been waiting for Windows 10 to become more bug free (and I would only use the Pro, which allows deferred updates), in order to install it (to program with DX12), but it seems the situation is getting worse, not better, according to this article: http://www.extremetech.com/computing/218570-win...

Re: Fractal Design Core 500 Mini-ITX Chassis
The top exhausts seem restrictive, would be nice to have it tested with Kraken X61 and with the restrictive grill cut.
Also, I doubt it's possible to mount both a X41 in the back and X61 top.

A Skylake-E with 8 cores, 20 MB L3 and 256 MB L4 would be a big hit with gamers, but currently Intel is not interested to discuss that.

An overview of HBM
Article at bit-tech, I think it's worth reading. A new generation of aftermarket gfx coolers will be needed for cards with HBM. The GPU package becomes larger and the HBM is in it, so it doesn't need extra memory heatsinks (VRMs will still need). http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/memory/2015/05/19/an...
