Hello teknerd and Mike, 3) good choice for the video card cooling No "choice" yet, trying to decide between Zalman VF700, Thermalright V1 and ArcticCooling ATI Silencer 5 but cannot find enough info. I have an AC NV silencer 5 on my 6800gt, and I like it, only problem is that if you're going for a ...

I'm wondering if anyone here has experience with the TJ04, I'm considering getting one for a project case (to be painted well and modded) or I might just throw a cases worth of money(and a ton of work) into making my sonata my "perfect" case.

I dont' have a nforce 4 chipset, but I have a Nforce 3 ultra chipset, which has a very similar problem. My solution was to take the zalman blue unit, and hack it up to fit under my NV silencer.

I also think the airflow from the silencer helps cool it, which works well to my advantage :) I haven't had any problems with cooling the last week or so, but I would love a probe to find out how hot my NB is, any reccomendations on programs? It's made my computer much much quieter THe motherboard i...

Mangling a ZM-NB47J

Some lessons are learned the hard way, like remembering to get a passivley cooled motherboard. Anyways, this left me with a problem, putting a passive heatsink on my motherboard. Strike 2, the northbridge chip is right underneath the VGA card, making just swapping the heatsink out unmodded, impossib...

Hi, at this point order for nefarious will ship. It is orders from 2/8/2005 that are questionable. If customers in front of the line are willing to take smaller quantities, some orders from 2/8/2005 can be filled. Thanks. So does this mean I can still order some Yate Loon fans if I order a small am...

I would also be interested in buying a few fans from you guys who ordered 10 of them. So just reply to me if you're interested in selling me one or two of them. Thanks!

I have this exact same problem. My solution (as soon as I get some free time) is to give my Zalman passive heatisnk a "haircut" so to say, and then install it. I'll just cut it to the height, and hope that works.

For a quick and simple suspending solution, look at my thread in the gallery. http://forums.silentpcreview.com/viewtopic.php?t=18889 As another quick recap, take some elastic thread, and run it between the holes in the HD cage. Just flip the thread to create tension, and slip in the hard drive, and ...

I'm using a Chieftec midtower, and I was thinking I would be ok with two intake fans (80 mm) and two semi-out fans (120mm + 80mm, with the 120 mm being in a PSU duct)). There would also be another 120 mm on the CPU. My other option is to ditch my current setup entirely and just get another case and...

My Sonata, the work in progress (Updated!)

Hello everyone. I'm relativley new to SPCR, but the advice I've gotten from the site has greatly influenced and helped me in creating a quiet yet powerful gaming rig. This system is my work in progress, and I'll update this thread as the improvments are made. Here she is. The inside http://img134.ex...

Re: The 'Pareto Components' of a noisy pc

I'll be building a MSI K8-E Neo2 Platinum That mobo has an active Northbridge cooler. That's bad news. You can always replace it with a heatsink, but make sure that the heatsink wouldn't interfere with your video card. PSU, Case fans and HDD are your big problems. Thanks to quiet CPU solutions like...

a very important consideration is what case you will be using. Most of the people here reccomend the Antec 3000BQE. As for the motherboard, as I've said a whole bunch already, look for a passive Northbridge cooler.

I actually just upgraded my entire setup from my old 200t iDEQ. I'm thoroughly convinced it's impossible to make those quiet for a number of reasons. the case fans on the 200t are a 70x25mm for the CPU, and 60x15mm for the back. These sizes are next to impossible to find quiet fans for. The Zalman u...

Be sure you buy a motherboard with a passive northbridge cooler. The 3000BQE should be pretty cheap if you buy just the case with no PS, and that combined with a PS shouldn't be much more cost than a Sonata. Also, I'd wait on the acousitpack. It will help, for sure, but it's pricey, and that money c...

Easily. The performance of the system isn't what makes a computer loud. I myself have a good performing gaming machine, but it's pretty quiet, and with a few more mods it will be barely audible. Already it's quiet enough that when the heater is on in my house, I can't hear it. The key I would say is...
