... Perhaps I could use my copy of XP retail with a new board, call MS as psklenar suggested and explain the situation. Even better would be to somehow get the OEM disc to at least begin the setup of Windows, then call MS when I reach the activation portion and explain that I have no key with the O...

You can upgrade components later with an OEM disc. You might have to talk to Microsoft. "The mobo died, I replaced it". No big deal. Agreed. I've done this twice ...once for my sister & brother-in-law's machine, and once for my parent's machine. You get a notice that "Activation" failed, please cal...

I purchased one of these after alot of thought. I needed a dual slot and lightweight solution and this seem to fit the bill. The money I've spent on this cooler however, costed as much as the HR 03 GT after all the additional ram sinks were added in. ... What did you need additional RAM sinks for? ...

Has anyone put an S1 on one of the newer Diamond HD3870's with the heatpipe based sinks? ... I've now done this. The RAM chips are connected to the main heatsink via long, non adhesive thermal pads. Luckily the S1rev2 comes with eight RAM heat sinks and they fit just fine. As for a summary of what ...

Has anyone put an S1 on one of the newer Diamond HD3870's with the heatpipe based sinks? According to the Arctic Cooling site, the S1 should fit on an HD3870 w/o problem, but "you are supposed to leave the stock memory chip coolers in place". Well, I found this review on Nordic Hardware that has a p...

Looking at the Asus web site, the Formula looks pretty darn near identical to the Extreme in and around the CPU socket area. I just finished building a new system and the Ninja fit like a charm. Longbow , I think I like it. I can't recall compare anything because this is a new build from the ground up, so the system's never run with anything other than the Ninja with the TR Bolt-thru kit. I've run the Prime95 tool in "torture test" mode and have been seeing the following high temps CoreTem...

Perhaps you'd enjoy a co-op RTS? What about CoD, BF, AA? The CoD series & AA (when I last look) allow team play against other teams, not as a human team against a computer team. BF does allow sort of human vs machine team play ... but it's not mission oriented like the Serious Sam , Delta Force and...

thejamppa , You're dead on the money ... Co-op team play is the best. I have a group of friends with whom I get together with every other month or so for a small LAN party (4 to 6 of us). I've got the Thermalright bolt-thru kit. Do I have to Bolt the Ninja to it outside the case and then carefully wedge it in? I'm not sure I can do that without damaging something. Or can I mount the bolt-thru to the back of the mobo, mount the mobo and then mount the Ninja? If the latter option *IS* ...

I started working/playing with computers back in the late 70s, I prefer the old school mechanical switch keyboards (similar to the old IBM monsters). Please forgive this likely dumb question, but ... My understanding is that there are no issues or concerns with running a single ATI or NVIDIA card under any chipset. lorn , ah! yes, i used some of that material in my ST62K build to suspend the 2.5" drive. Good stuff, but I'm not sure how reliable it'd be wrapped around heat pipe. lorn , Thanks for the idea of "suspenders" for the full size Ninja. I'd suspect I need something a bit more substantial than rubber bands ...
