Re: AMD ZeroCore observations
another issue I had was the GPU voltage will reset to stock when waking from zerocore. annoying if running a custom overvolt/undervolt. I disabled zerocore a while ago because of that

Re: AMD ZeroCore observations
My observations with zerocore are pretty much the same as OP. Im using gigabyte 7870, Win8, 13.6 drivers. -Did not work with HDMI so had to use DVI -Dropped 10w when operating -If active window has a blinking cursor then zerocore did not operate. (Can disable blinking cursor in keyboard settings to ...

Re: Finally a Super Quiet High-end Video Card?
Thanks. I might have to sell my card and get the Gigabyte then !! Why did you need to undervolt/underclock it? At idle it shouldn't really matter (Since the card goes down to 300Mhz/825mV and since the fans turn on when not in idle it should be OK? Also if you prefer not to play with voltages can y...

Re: Finally a Super Quiet High-end Video Card?
I have found it is just best to use afterburner and set up your own fan curve and get a card with chil controller so you can undervolt I am running a gigabyte 7870 OC with huge triple fan cooler on it, by default it has 40% idle fan which is ridiculous overkill and loud. with afterburner I turn the...

Re: Underclocking ATI for dual-screen UVD
I just found this on Anandtech Yeah - I was disappointed when I read that part of the review. I think the only "fix" for me would be to just add a 2nd lower power card, like the HD6450 @ $30 (or whatever the 7xxx version is), and use that to drive my 2nd monitor's 2D apps. I liked the part about th...

Re: Low power, quiet TV?
I use samsung 32C550 as monitor, backlight goes from 0 - 20 , power consumption from 40-110w. I use 2 backlight in my dim room which is only 45w. Also there is no standard for power management through HDMI you have to rely on TV having auto off setting on no signal after certain amount of time. With...

Re: HDD Elastic Suspension... Show your pics!
Not considering the lack of cable management on that case and the shivers the picture sends down my spine (not in a good way, if I may add ) for knowing what that strap has been in contact with, that is a rather ingenious solution, with one (rather large) caveat: there are only one and a hal...

well since 8.7 don't fix it i just tried modding my sapphire 4850 bios. lowered 2d voltage to .94v works fine tho there is next to no idle temp difference despite the lower clocks and voltage. this does make me think there is hardware minimum voltage which is why these cards were released with these...

only thing pissing me off is asus qfan even in silent mode its ramping up fans to full speed under load causing so much noise..i wish it would only do that over 70 deg or something. 52 deg is still cool ffs  That’s why I don’t trust BIOS based fan control and prefer to use Speedfan. thx s...

Re: Radeon 9800 Pro died - what cause? And where to now?
replace your PSU dude, browed molex connectors make it very likely your PSU is not up to the task anymore... Actually had same thing happened to my 9800 pro when i was using it with an old PSU with a lowly 12v rail. Over time the molex connector burnt out , fortunately i was able to solder on a new ...

I have a weird sound coming from my mobo. Its a fast scratchy ticking sort of sound and you can here it whenever the CPU is under load. I have stopped all the fans and it is defiantely not them or the PSU but is coming from near CPU where all the capacitors and mofsets are. Anyon know what it is? I ...

well i have an irritating whine coming from my pc i was about to throw out the WD hard drive because i thought that was the source but on closer inspection I found it is coming from in the PSU!
