I've seen the rumours myself too and did a lot of digging to find out if I would have problems myself, but in the end I could not find anything conclusive, and just went ahead with the purchases. Not sure if I got lucky or not, but it works. Corsair 620HX: " I checked the PSU out with an APC SmartU...

Re: Active PFC Power Supply Unit and APC UPS compatiibility

Some A-PFC PSUs are incompatible with line-interactive UPSes, but Epsilon works fine.

No, except that they can use different fans (Yate Loon / Protechnic / sometimes Adda).

And it hasn't LED backlight -- only improved CCFLs. 2407WFP-HC is a high-end home/office monitor while XL20 aimed at color-critical applications (prepress, color correction and retouching, et cetera) and should be comp...

No.
It's not fan controller, it's 12V rail current limit adjust: 2VR2 -> 12V2, 2VR3 -> 12V3 and 2VR4 -> 12V4.

Ripple under full load
Cross-loading graph

Ripple is almost ok, but voltage stability is too bad, and 1200 W model (based on the same design) is even worse.

yes, but a PSU is not just a rectifier. are you telling me the removal of the APFC would increase the efficiency of say, a Seasonic S12, by 4% over its entire range? Efficiency of the high-voltage side of the PSU itself would be lower without A-PFC because of lower inverter input voltage (without A...

Re: 8800GTX SLI system with Phantom 500

Phantom 500 has two +12V rails: 12V2 powers CPU (both 4-pin and 8-pin connectors) and 12V1 powers all other components. So, without PSU modification, only 12V1 rail is available to videocard. It has 17A limit, while every single GF8800GTX require about 11 A => 2*GF8800GTX = 22 A > 17 A. If you are f...

Now, there are some power supplies that are "mostly analog". That implies that the there's a little bit of digital circuitry (often just from the comparator to the power MOSFET) to improve efficiency. (A LM393 along with a power MOSFET, a fast recovery rectifier, and inductor, and a few resistors a...
