Re: Zotac ZBOX CI540 Nano Fanless Barebones Mini-PC

Great find! Could you please try with an external HDD? I was just about to buy the CI540 hoping that I won't get a dud, but I would like to use an external HDD connected to it. With the second drive connected (I could connect one just for "silent operation"), how would you describe the noise, ...

CnQ won't work if the manual voltage settings(at least on K10). Well, it's not a big matter though That depends on the motherboard. Some of them keep C'n'Q active when undervolting. Some even lower the idle voltage accordingly. My Jetway NC62K-LF is such an example. I run my 240 at 1.125 V and idle...

I've tried it on my Jetway NC62K-LF (nVidia 8200) and while my CPU usage dropped a bit, the video quality is quite bad, it looks like it's using a lower number of colors - I see serious banding. Probably just a bug, I hope they fix it.

I think the Scythe SFlex 1200rpm would be a good choice as a case fan. It isn't completely silent at 1200 rpm, but you can probably hook it up to a fan header on the motherboard and limit it's speed with Speedfan (or even from BIOS if your MB supports it).

Yes, that's probably it - I noticed that with lite use I get 21-25W with a PF=0.48 - 0.65, but when it jumps to 40+W the PF goes to 1.00. So probably the power meter can't measure the power factor below a certain limit and defaults to 1.00, miscalculating the power consumption. So can I assume that ...

Found this (and load) - at idle and with a LE1300 it seems pretty close to Gigabyte's Atom 230, with under-volting/clocking it should go below, am I right?

The Aopen looks great, but I it would be difficult to buy (and too expensive).

Abit IP35 Pro doesn't support undervolting, while Gigabyte does. I went for G33-DS3R (P35-DS3R wasn't available at that moment) and I'm happy with it. BIOS has an Auto mode for 2 fans (CPU and another 3-pin header) that works fine for my Ninja fan + Nexus @exhaust. Speedfan can change their speed too.

I think his 430W NeoHE should be enough for the GTS. This article has some interesting performance per watt comparisons.
