I think the XP-120C would be debilitatingly heavy. ~810g for the XP-90C with a fan is already pretty massive.

I would think the VF700 would provide the best performance, but I would personally be most in favor of the NV Silencer 6 if the clicking is fixed because I'm a big fan of exausting heat and I would gladly give up a slot to do that.

If you're looking for the quieter of the two motors, then you are looking for the Nidec, not the JVC.

And I believe Samsung does make Nidec SATA drives for their P80 series.
