Re: Replacing S12-430 with...?

OT but Im just wondering, what kind of troubles do you have with the cable lenght in the p180 with the s12-430? Im a potential buyer of both. Is their anyway around short cables, newbie q, like extensions? I have an Asus A8N-SLI motherboard. The 4-pin auxiliary power cable for the CPU on the S12 se...

Almost two hours later...

And I've done 3DMark05 (8070... a respectable score...), Folding@Home, and Prime95 Blend tests. The voltage on the 12V rail dropped to 11.99V at the lowest. The power supply is fine. BFG was just pointing a finger elsewhere, and I'll happily tell them to put it back where they had it the next time I...

Random graphics madness--- pixelization (FarCry), multicolored static (Unreal Tournament), animation freakishness (EverQuest--- characters look like they're Gumby or need Valium)... AsusProbe is showing 11.776 volts off the +12V line right now... a multimeter (a Triplett 2202, calibrated about six m...

Just posted my own thread about a 7800GTX and P/S problem

I'm not having any luck with a Seasonic S12-430 and the BFG 7800GTX... Here's the thread

Let us (read, ME) know if the S12-500 is stable, hmm?

Replacing S12-430 with...?

I'm irritated. First off-- look in my sig for my rig specs right now. Half-Life 2 and Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory run flawlessly, but FarCry, Unreal 2004, and EverQuest all suffer random graphic madness--- to the extent of blue-screening the machine in FarCry! My brand-new S12-430 is only supplying...

SSS Rig: Mark I

As I informed my wife, this is only the first "iteration" of this machine. I will be perpetually tweaking it trying to get it more quiet, though it will never quite reach silence thanks to the monstrosity of a video card I have. First, the parts: http://img75.imageshack.us/img75/9707/img10146ea.th.j...

KVL and my memory

My memory was faulty, and ForumCKM is correct. Yes, the first fan does actually get a 12V in, but provided the resistance is perfectly even between the two fans, it will only "see" half that voltage. (+12V in, +6V out = +6V used.) Just a quick word of warning, though... if the first fan's resistance...

Look.....save yourself a bunch of trouble. Wire the two fans in series.....then you'll be running at 6V, which should start without problems. PSU 12v> fan1 red wire> fan1 black wire> fan2 red wire> fan2 black wire> PSU ground= fans running at 6V. The fans have to be exactly the same for this to wor...

Really, I don't see anything wrong with your setup. :D I went for the throat on my components (see sig!) but I agree with most of the other sentiments here. I bought the Asus A8N-SLI Premium board because I needed three PCI slots, but wanted the flexibility of four PCI Express slots of various sorts...

Another 'Mod' that works very well with optical mice (IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0 here) is using a couple of stacked sheets of paper rather than a mouse mat or the desk. It provides a nice smooth surface for the mouse to glide on ehancing the 'feel' tremendously. I do much the same thing, save I use ...

Just amazing...

For the silver P180--- some places are charging up to US$200 ( atacom.com ), but you'll nominally be able to get it from buy.com for $130. Interesting that buy.com also only lists it as having two 12cm fans. For the black P180--- If it's $70 more expensive, I'll buy the silver one and black-enamel t...

First three mods I shall be making...

1) Sealing the top hole: Black closed-cell foam, cut to shape to fill the "spoiler" without looking "ghetto". 2) IF my pair of Raptors is too loud hung vertically, then hang them horizontally on elastic strung through the first and fourth hard drive holes. Note the if--- Mike/Antec may have hit a ho...

Graham, thank you.

I'll take a second look at the parts you recommended, because given my situation (read: pickiness), I'm not sure what I'll actually be able to find when it comes the day of the purchase.

(Grr... lost my first reply due to a mis-click. :p)

Case: I hadn't considered the TJ06 a viable option, since I couldn't figure out how a passive power supply would get any airflow in that position behind the 5 1/4" drive bays. The P-180 uses a similar rear-case layout, albeit flipped upside down, to keep the CPU away from the passive power supply, ...

SSS rig design: Please comment!

I have read quite a bit about silencing PCs, but have never undertaken a truly quiet PC rig as a project. Well, that's just changed; I've got it in writing from my wife ( ::winces at the whipcrack sounds:: ) that I'm allowed to blow my bonus on whatever I want--- and what I want is the best of all w...

so has anyone got a very rough idea of when the p180 will be released? To paraphrase AntecRep and the article: Originally planned for End-Feb-'05 release, but last-minute production issues or design concerns may delay any product. When it shows up on the Antec website, it'll be "released", and you ...
