ARGH this would be such an EASY product to make! Just fab a plastic vent that screws in a PCI slot like the current exhausts do, and let you mount your own fan on it. In fact I might bloody well make my own in the workshop tommorow it sounds so piss easy !! Seriously though, do manufacturers l...

Silent PCI slot / system exhaust?

Hi all, I'm looking to install one of those exaust fans that blows air out the PCI slot hole. Only problem is they all seem to be either generic or random brand names with no indication of noise levels. I don't need absolute silence, but something in the order of nexus 120mm loudness is what I want....

I own one, it's great. Loud as hell at 12V, big CFM. Not sure at the exact voltage/rpm where it goes 'silent', but it's the "3/8th speed" setting on my fan control software (I don't have the rpm wire attached). I use it in conjunction with a Thermalright SI-120 heatsink. It really is silent at that ...

Case pressure doesn't make a scrap of difference where dust is concerned, unless all the intakes are filtered. Once you have all the intakes protected with filtration, a neutral pressure setup is best for the dust problem. With such a pressure setup, there is much less tendency for dust to come thr...

Positive pressure

What % difference in total intake / output flow is ideal for keeping dust out of a case? Has anyone worked this out in terms of actual CFM ratings and case volumes? I'm wondering if you can have substantially greater input pressure, or whether this just ends up moving hot air round the inside of the...

I have a raptor drive. The idle spin noise is damn loud.. holding it in my hand it is still WAY too loud, so I don't think suspending alone is the solution.

A64 / Sonata silencing

Hi all. First off thanks for the fantastic site - the info here is diamond. I'm in the process of silencing my A64 system and I have a few Q's. In its current state, the noisiest components are (in order): FAR TOO LOUD 1- Antec TruPower 380W supply (came with the Sonata case) 1- Panaflo 120mm L1A fa...

Another recommendation for the VF700. I started off with the NV5 but it wasn't quiet enough.. most review sites say 'silent' when they really mean 'relatively quiet' imo. The VF700 cools my 6800GT nicely @ 5v (56C at 400/1100Mhz, the reference 6800 Ultra speed!) and is approaching silent (for me tha...
