Voltage is at 1.46 (actual). And not being TOTALLY insane kept me from 4.0. :) I've since removed the intake fan and the bottom chamber fan. Good idea about getting some sinks on the voltage controlers. I assume those are the little hot boxes around the CPU with R50 written on them. Those are pretty...

I was able to hack a DD maze 4 chipset block onto my 680i SB.

Works pretty well, temps are usually 40C in BIOS for the MCP

That's a quality build - good job! (But it looks a bit loud IMO.) All I hear is a mild swish of fans. And I mean mild. Like I said I'm going to work on taking out the front intake and bottom mid-fan and even perhaps one of the top/back fans. You CANNOT hear the pump at all, nor the 60mm on the PSU....

UPDATE:

FYI, I never even noticed the 60mm fan was on. I'm pretty sure it starts on bootup for my system but I never hear a whine or throttle (up/down).

It will be staying. :)

I'll be doing some fan experiments when I get done adjusting the overclocks. Hopefully I can pull the front intake fan by the pump and the lower chamber fan behind the hard drives. This would not only reduce the noise but hopefully lead to better cable management. Anywho, its very quiet right now (t...

Cooling the MCP (SB) on the 680i is a bit of a bitch with a 8800GTX. Bluntly it was REALLY poor planning on Nvidia's part. I had been thinking about this for weeks now as the MCP does need cooling but I didn't want to put a little chipset screamer down there. SO, I did a little cutting work on a DD ...

While I have done some minor moding in the past (mostly blowholes) I've decided to make a run with this case. The case is a P180B w/window. I am not only going to watercool this thing and run with a red lighting motif, but I've decided to go with a Dark Side Star Wars theme. In order to get the pump...

I agree with all above. You won't see any ingame performance perks to FPS but quicker loads. You MIGHT get smoother "zoning" in MMORPGs if you play them.

Do as suggested. Use the Raptor for your OS and games and then another HD for programs and downloads.

Any ideas on how you are going to cool the MCP? The little bugger gets warm too. Going to try a HR-05-SLI on it too?

I SHOULD know late next week weather or not I will need the HR-o5-SLI I currently have. I'll let you know either way.

Glad I could help.

Well I can give you PICS of it sitting on the board with a 8800GTX but I won't have any temps with it for at least a week (if at all). I have some items on the way from DD and I am going to TRY to cool the MCP with a spare Maze 4 chipset block I have. If that works, I'm not going to even bother moun...

I have to disagree. I have a SLI version that fits on my EVGA 680i with a 8800GTX in place. Now granted, the orientation of the tower is crooked in relation to the board (it is down and to the right of the chipset) but it does indeed fit, just looks a little odd. Also a 80MM fan fits on it just fine...

Maze 4 on MCP once DD 8800GTX block out?

I've been giving the DD 8800GTX block a look and doing some measurements on my EVGA 680i board. From what I can tell (without actually having the thing in my hands) is SEEMS as though it would be possiable to put a Maze 4 chipset block on the MCP IF one also uses the 8800GTX block. What do you think?

Does anyone have a template they can post for a black ice radiator?

I need to cut the holes for the rad nips and I want to make sure I line it up right.

Allright then. I think I'll mount the fan on the inside of the case pushing out into the rad on the outside of the case.

Of course that puts the rad nips through the case metal and means my cut better be pretty dead on. :(

Oh well, here is to adventure!!!!

Innie or Outie?

While I would assume there would be some temp advantages to having a radiator on the outside of a case (please correct me if I am wrong), I was wondering if there were any other advantages/disadvantages? Also, as I understand it having a fan suck air vs blow air through the rad is the prefered meath...

Remove the top cover from P180

I'm going to be doing some work on my P180. The sides and front were easy enough to remove, but I am a bit stuck on the top. It would APPEAR that it should just slide off like the sides but for the life of me I cannot figure it out. Am I missing a hitch or some thing? Does it just slide foward and t...

Seasonic M12 700 NOT enough for 8800GTX SLI????

Per nvidia site: http://www.slizone.com/object/slizone_build_psu.html#certified_powersupplies It rates for the 8800GTS though. So, true statement or nvidia covering their butt by making sure everyone has MASSIVE overkill and thus they don't have to hear the complaints about "XXX PSU didn't work and ...
