OK, so I don't want to piss off the original poster any more than I already have so I'll try and unjack this thread. If you want, I'll delete my original post and replace it with this one. Just let me know. 1) Yes, there are 2.5" to 3.5" converters that have screw holes on the bottom. Microcenter c...

LOL. I go through the same thing when I'm trying out stuff on my computer.Shadowknight wrote:I have to wait until the refrigerator 30 feet away shuts down from it's cooling cycle.

I leave the bottom two pci slots open on mine to bring cooler air in for my vga card. I replaced the fan on my 6600gt with a 120mm Yate Loon on 5v and it gives me temperatures similar to the stock fan (84C peak on 3dmark03). With the pci slots covered, it went as high as 110C peak temp on 3dmark03....

I am unsure if 3DMark2005 can be run in a window, my unregistered 2003 can't. Temps drop very quickly after exiting a GPU intensive application. 80C is at the upper acceptable limit - people with Gigabyte 6600GT passive used to report these numbers. As long as you don't get artifacts, it's supposed...

I used at 120mm Yate Loon DS12M from pctekonline.com. It only comes with a 4 pin connector though but I just modded the pins to 5v. Silent computing is a costly hobby. I have gone through around 7 fans without finding a very good one. If it wasn't for this site, I probably wouldn't have gotten my Se...

cyberknight: seems like a good idea, will buy once I get around to NCIX. Too busy for the time being. mathias: I never knew that, people keep suggesting sites that are in the US. dyle: Is ur fan parallel with the video card or is it blowing diagonally?? If its anything but blowing straight at the v...

Re: Fan to run a 12v, 80mm or bigger
I'm looking a fan that I will run at 12v inside the case, and also looking for at least 80mm or bigger. I'll describe my situation: I ditched the 40mm that came with my video card(Sapphire 9600XT) and mounted a 80mm fan blowing on it. The 80mm fan is rather loud and isn't doing a very good job of c...

I was heavily considering the nexus but could just not bring myself to buy a 20+ something 92mm fan that i will just be cutting out to fit in the 7000. ? The 92mm is about $13. At any rate, glad you got a setup that works for you. The Al Everflow is a good fan and as you mentioned, has some nice bl...

dyle, definitly go for the Nexus if you're going to mod your Zalman 7000. You can get the 92mm at a lot of places now, as I found out when bargin hunting a Thermalright SI-97. Try a froogle.com search if you want, or just head over to siliconacoustics or endpcnoise. frankgehry, so do you *know* the...

does anybody know how the 90mm WhisperFans are? I'm planning to replace the fan on my zalman 7000cu since it seems to be the loudest part in my computer now. I might just go ahead and buy this tomorrow and see how it is before I hack it to fit in the 7000cu. If it's not good enough, I'll just return...
