Asrock Q1900DC-ITX idle power consumption

I recently bought the Asrock Q1900DC-ITX mini-ITX motherboard and wanted to report my findings. My setup includes: Kingston 4GB DDR3L 1.35V RAM (single SODIMM) 128GB Crucial M4 SSD Meanwell GS60A12 power adapter Windows 8.1 with Update 1 Kill-A-Watt for reading power consumption at the wall I enable...

Recommended Efficient External AC-DC Adapter (100W - 120W)?

I'm looking for a 12V - 19V high efficiency (>89%) external power brick that can supply 100 - 120W. I have the GS120A12-R7B, but that is 87.5% efficient and more importantly uses a 4-pin mini-din type connector, as opposed to the 2.5mmx5.5mm barrel type connector that I need. The GS90A19-P1M looks l...

The Mean Well bricks seems to be the most efficient. I am looking at the GS220A12-R7B is particular, because it provides 200W output, so it should be able to feed the 150W PicoPSU easily. See the specs here . . I know this is an old thread, but that AC-DC adapter uses a 4-pin connector at the end. ...

Re: DH77DF vs DH77EB - power consumption

I can confirm that the DH77DF is a phenomenal low-power board. I have it paired with an i3-3220T+stock HSF, a Crucial 512GB m4 SSD, a 2GB 1.5V DDR3 DIMM, a picoPSU-150-XT, and a Meanwell GS60A12-P1J. I updated to the latest BIOS, and in the BIOS power settings set it to custom and pretty much enable...

I decided to go with the Intel DH77DF mini-ITX board. It supports LGA 1155 CPUs, so I may through in a low TDP i3 or i5 that has the Intel HD 4000 GPU. Thanks for the suggestions.

Re: Intel DN2800MT hands on...Single digit world?

Well, after using this board in a server, I decided to buy another one to use in a small home theater PC. That was a huge mistake. The graphics performance is abysmal with absolutely no support from Intel (32-bit drivers suffer, no 64-bit drivers, and no Windows 8 drivers; all Metro apps crash). I r...

I got the board in the mail and set it up. I've installed Win7 32-bit and all of the Intel drivers. Everything looks good, unfortunately I'm getting about 15W idle. I really think it's the 12V power brick I'm using, which I bought for my 120W PicoPSU and found it to be one of the few bricks that wer...

Re: Intel DN2800MT hands on...Single digit world?

I definitely want to get this board. It says it takes up to 4GB of RAM. Do you know if it can take one 4GB sodimm, or would you need to use 2x2GB? Thanks.

UPDATE: I think the answer is Yes. From the product guide:

Code: Select all

Support for up to 4 GB of system memory on a single SO-DIMM (or
two 2 GB SO-DIMMs)

You should be able to go directly into the BIOS and set the CPU voltage as low as 0.85v. Just remember that that voltage value is for idle conditions when the CPU multiplier is x6. Undervolting will have very little effect on idle power draw. I doubt that it's possible to change the VID in the CPU....

The minimum VID is a value programed into the CPU. All that can be set in the BIOS is Vcc (CPU voltage). There are three basic settings: Auto - BIOS determines the Vcc - tends to use higher than necessary voltage, Normal - Voltage level setting read from CPU (VID), Manually setting the Vcc. So if t...

How and where (CPU, BIOS, software) is Minimum VID set?

I'm trying to completely understand how and where the minimum VID is set since I'm having trouble being able to undervolt my E8400 and Q9450 to ultra-low values. As per the Intel specs and datasheets for these CPUs, the minimum VID is 0.850V (with a default VCore of 1.2V). Then there's the concept o...

No personal experience, but I believe you use conductive ink and tape off around the surrounding pins. Not something I would attempt with a $170 CPU. Yeah, I see that is what most people do.
