+1 for removing the front case fan. I've never found it makes any difference for cooling with the exception of hard drives.

Aluminum tends to have a negative impact when it comes to noise, although they are nicer to carry around. Much lighter.

Try turning on AAM on your HDD, I found this made a significant diffence in regards to noise in my last build. Crystal Disk Info would do the trick for you - http://crystalmark.info/software/Crysta ... dex-e.html

Having said that, I find I still can't hear my system regardless unless within 1m of it and its around 12 at night (less ambient noise). I'm running a Red Scorpion but due to case damping its quiet enough.

Lol, its not really a very big case. I'm not sure you'll manage to fit watercooling in. I changed the graphics cooler to an Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 and cable tied a 92mm fan to it at low revs. Temps are better than with stock cooling and quiet as. 8) Likewise, for RAM I ended up with G.Skill NQ s...

Cool, thanks I'll keep that in mind. Will just change the fan for a Noctua or something when it begins to get noisy.

You're right, the HSF fit on with the fan blowing up. Meh, can't have everything I guess. :?

Google shows plenty of reviews which all say its nice and quiet, its just SPCR really is the only place to look when choosing quiet components. Hmm, the 300 is $6 Australian less than the CM Sileo 500. The only thing is that it has a mesh front. My experience is that whilst these are great fo...

Cooler Master Sileo 500 for single GPU gaming build

Hey guys, just looking at building a new gaming build using the Cooler Master Sileo 500 and was wondering whether anyone has had any experiences with this case? I'll be using the following components: Xigmatek CPU Cooler S1283 Red Scorpion AMD PhenomII 720 TripleCore CPU (hoping to enable the 4th co...

Will a Xigmatek S1283 fit in a CM Elite 334 case?

Hey guys, just looking at upgrading my current system (on the cheap) and wanted to know if anyone has installed a Xigmatek S1283 HSF in a CoolerMaster Elite 334 case. I'm hoping this would fit so I don't have to purchase a new case. Otherwise I'll update to the RC690. My concern is as to whether it ...

Meh, whatever. I'm waiting for a new driver rev. My system is silent which keeps me happy and I only leave it running when in front of it or downloading something. I don't see it as something worth me worrying about.

My results shown in the pictures are with an HD4870 with an Accelero S1 Rev. 2. Any improvement in temperatures seen is a result of lowered 2D GPU/MEM clocks. I'm not really looking for lower temperatures, but rather lower power usage, during IDLE. The lower temperatures is just an added bonus... I...

Who cares guys. Installing the Accelero S1 on my system dropped my HD4850 temps significantly (more than 20C) and its passive. Why are we worried about temps? It's just inadequate cooling coupled with power management not being enabled.

Also depends on how quiet is quiet enough for you. My current 520W SkyHawk PSUis nice and quiet, though the fans do buzz a little at low RPMs. Thing to remember is SkyHawk PSU's don't actually meet Intel/AMD guidelines as they don't actually have dual 12V power rails. This doesn't appear to effect p...

I'd recommend talking a close look at the Vantec IceBERQ 6. This is kind of a Arctic Cooling ATI/nVidia Silencer knockoff but much better designed. Seriously, just run the fewest quiet fans your system can handle (during summer). Quiet HDD's, quiet video card cooling solution, quiet CPU HSF combo and quiet PSU. The most noticeable noise in my system are my two Samsung SpinPoint HDD's, and I'm afraid I really can't be bothered suspending them an...

Well, as I recall there's a sound deadening material called brown bread out there thats not overly expensive, and it would likely stick to the wall just fine. Yes, and that's much more likely to give a performance increase than a higher airflow fan fron what I've seen. Higher airflow fans make virtually no difference at all. Certainly not worth the tiny temp drop you get compared to the noise increase.

Still, I'd love to see one of these reviewed. 8)

Wow. What a turn around in the polls. When I first posted this it was an overwhelming no as to whether it would be worthwhile reviewing this. Now, it's only no by the small margin of 2 votes.

I guess that might be to do with far more reviews now around for these two heatsinks.

What you need to understand here is that a lot of people have very lemming like behaviour concerning certain brands. It doesn't matter whether a product is good or not, they'll knock it. Over at overclockers forums the sentiment is ver much along the lines of if it isn't a Thermalright product, it p...

I shouldn't think so. 370 x 690 / 360 = 709.1 The XP-120C should weight approximately 19.1 more grams than the XP-90C. That isn't that much heavier. If it allows for passive cooling, it is actually an improvement over what some of us have now weight wise. Aye, that weight would be quite acceptable ...

The problem we have here is that yes, there's a number of reviews out. But no, none of these reviews are from particularly reputable hardware review sites and should therefore probably be disregarded.

I hope at some point someone on my short list of trusted review sites reviews these. :?

I am an overclocker. I just prefer silence to noise. If I can find a heatsink that I can actually get my hands on here in Australia, which is around the same noise level as the Zalman CNPS7000B-CU at full bore and performs better, I'll buy it. I had to drop my overclock from 2.4GHz at 2V to 2.2GHz ...
