The higher the frequency, the smoother the output voltage of the circuit will be. The fans make clicking noises when using PWM because of the constant on off. A smooth dc input makes no noises and thus would be the most desirable to feed to a fan. Yes something at 850hz is within the audible range o...

Aleksi: Check out my edit above to see why there will be no problem with not having a fan connected. sthayashi:Yes low pass filtering is f=1/(2*pi*RC). I dunno if you were thinking this, but my attenuator is not a low pass filter (for it to be, I would have to make the fan voltage be taken across th...

Edit: I was really tired when I posted this last night and I wasn't thinking too well. Now that I look at it, NOTHING will happen when there is no fan. The only thing connected in the circuit would then be the capacitor, and when it is fully charged it acts as an open, thus preventing any current go...

[Guide] Build home made attenuator
With the help of Webfire (he supplied some pictures of the mcubed attenuator so that I could indeed verify that my design would work) I have successfully made 2 attenuators for $10, and can easily make 2 more for only $2. Best yet is the fact that I believe that my attenuators are more effective tha...

I need metal connectors for 3 pin fans...
I just got a 4 pin yateloon fan knowing that I need it to be a 3 pin fan. I didn't think this would be a problem as I knew Fry's had these connectors---except when I just went there, they were out of stock :/ If you still haven't figure out what I need, its this: http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...

Since I needed one that for sure could take a front intake, I just went for a LX-6A19. http://shop.store.yahoo.com/directron/cslx6a19bl.html only $56 shipped not too bad, however I still liked the looks of the one at newegg, also it had more features (removable mobo tray).

I have a sp-97 for my xp2500 (running on NF7-S board). I seem to remember reviews saying it didn't run quite as well in the suck mode, but I can't find any of them. The only thing I'm wondering about is the ducting from a 120mm to fit over my sp97--in that it'll create resistance and possably more n...

Ya I'd definatly not get the pci version, or the digital sensors. I have a fan controller (with temp analog sensors) that work really nice because how small they are, those digital things are huge! On mcube's site I can either just select the tbalancer and opt for a sensor hub with 6 sensors (and on...

tbalancer questions
Can the tbalancer control 2 fans with 1 sensor? Such as, if the cpu heats up, it increases cpu fan and intake fan?
What about 1 fan gets controlled by 2 sensors? Such as, sensor on cpu, and another on hd. If cpu gets 50C, fan increses, or if hd fan reaches 40C, fan increases.
Thanks.

Right, I know what I am talking about is possable, and I even have a few ideas on how to do it. What I am wondering, is the performance/noise of both setups. Will ducting the exhaust fan to the cpu heatsink (and removing the cpu fan) still cool the cpu the same? Will doing this still allow enough ai...

2in1 exhaust fan & cpu fan?
I'm looking at getting the LX-6A19 case. Originally I was thinking of having a 120mm in the front, 120mm in the back, and a 92mm fan on my cpu. I also have a psu that has a 92mm fan on the bottom. However, where the rear fan is place, it will be right next to my cpu fan. I know this setup will cause...

CasEdge/Foxconn 3GTH-001 case
This case looks really good http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproductdesc.asp?description=11-153-025&DEPA=1 1. No front cover over the drives (my case is in a desk with a door, so it'd be stupid to have to open 2 doors to get to my cdrom) 2. No side window (if you know about ESD then you will NEVER have...
