Samsung is making a DVD-RW that's supposed to be rather quiet. I haven't seen (or heard) it in use, but the reviews of the Writemaster all state that it's very quiet. A single DVD-RW should meet all your needs, too. You'll just need to swap out a disk when copying.

Opera 8.0 just came out. I get the idea that with Mozilla's newfound popularity, people will soon design spyware capable of exploiting it. Opera's customizability is largely what appeals to me, that plus the fact that it's lightening fast.

I do have to agree, Tom's Hardware has developed a reputation for being unreliable, as Tom Pabst is pretty notorious about the fact that you can purchase a more favorable review on his site.
