I've purchased two Super Tornadoes from Datum Computer Solutions on Main, near 18th, in Vancouver. It's a smaller store, but the owner knows what he's doing. 604 876 2625. He could probably get the S12s too but you'd have to ask him.

Re the quality of the information from Zalman: I checked the Zalman site for compatibility information between my Epox EP-8KTA3 and the 7000B. The site lists the pair as compatible but in reality there are some electrolytic caps that the heatsink cuts into when the heatsink is placed on the CPU. I j...

I think there are some ads for fans somewhere that claim that because the 120 mm fan is horizontal, there isn't some other kind of wear on the bearings, which makes the bearings last longer. But fan bearings may be different than the bearings in drives. Re what I wrote above, I guess if the drive we...

Are any of your fans physically blocked, or do any of them have sticky or worn bearings? When you look inside the case ...

A CURSE ON YOU, SPCR!
I started out looking to build a fanless Mini-ITX system but abandoned that idea due to problems with the motherboards. Then I started looking around on this site and have since spent $400 on quiet power supplies, crazy heatsinks, fan controllers, a new case.... Have spent hours suspending hard driv...

In one of my machines I recently suspended the hard drive and also added another suspended hard drive. The new drive is quiet, but the old drive that was quiet when it was screwed into a 3.5" bay is now emitting audible seek noises. Instead of bungee or clothing elastic I used laces from ice skates,...
