Removing front panel audio interference (Antec P180)

I got a nice pair of headphones for my birthday, and so was using the front panel audio connector for the first time (had been using a pair of USB headphones before that). But I noticed some serious audio interference (buzzing, static) that made it unacceptable for normal use. I had to basically cho...

In praise of Antec (and my P180b)

A couple weeks ago, I was trying to put my USB thumb drive into the front connections on my P180B case. For some reason it wouldn't go in. So, I checked the USB port...and much to my surprise, I was able to easily remove the black plastic piece that is used in the port to hold the connector in place...

Obtaining drive temps from RAID (Seagates in Intel raid)

I've got 2 Seagate drives in an Intel Matrix RAID1. The Seatools utility only shows there being 1 drive, not 2...so it's already being fooled. When I select that drive and try to get some in info (specifically temps), it comes back as fail. So I'm sure the raid is what's fooling it. I'm trying to te...

Regular P182 I believe is something like "gunmetal" grey.

oo, a mini 182...that sounds intriguing. This is the first case I'm happy to display. I'm not so happy about it that I felt enticed by the 182 special edition...yikes! But the clean look of the 180b is really sweet. It's the first PC case I've had that doesn't look like all the other cases I...

Heh, I'm in the same boat. Maybe we should start a new site, QPCR (quietpcreview.com). I'll just be happy if I can stand a few feet away and not realize the PC is one, except for the lights on it. That's all I'm after, and hopefully the NeoHE will help in that regard.

P180B = best case ever

I think this is the most excited I've been about a case before. I waited, and hunted around, and finally snagged one at $68 shipped (AR), and I truly believe I've found my case for the next decade. PC cases is one of the least upgraded things for me, so it's good to have a GREAT looking case that is...

Hm. I can't really turn mine on yet, due to not having a motherboard to hook it up to (and not really wanting to try the paperclip trick at this point)...but I was hoping it shared the relatively quiet characteristics of its reviewed brother, the 430 or whatever that was. It rated fairly high on the...

Great, glad it will reach.

Sure hope it's good power (it's certainly ENOUGH power)...it is an antec after all.

Sadly, when using a windows machine....BSOD are not uncommon, and could be caused by anything....so I'd probably never think it was the power supply.

Neo HE 500: cables reach in P180? MB compatibility issues?

A half-price rebate at frys.com spurred me to get this powersupply (2, in fact) as I'm gearing up for a dual PC upgrade. My next planned purchase is a P180b as soon as I find a really good deal. But while I'm waiting...will I need to buy cable extenders for this PSU to reach most motherboards? (have...

Actually, it's even better than that....the P180B is $99, with a $50 rebate, (so $49 total) and it DOES have free shipping. Rebate ends tomorrow. But I've been waiting for a cheap 180B, so thanks for the tip!

Antec and Silverstone and Origin all make HTPC cases that take ATX. I just bought the Silverstone LC-17 for my ATX board and I'm quite pleased with it.

Check 'em out at PC Alchemy. Most of those cases take ATX.

Getting at least SOME deserved credit...

My Nov. issues of PC Games magazine contained a very short section on quieting PC's. Nothing earthshaking, that's for sure....but it did also, in the very last paragraph, say that for all of the best info on silencing a PC, go to silentpcreview.com. *clapclapclapclapclap* Credit where credit is due.
