I noticed when i push the side panels in the hum becomes less. could putting on acoustic dampeners have the same effect as pushing it in.

What next?

Oky guys here is what i have done. I have a 400 watt PSU. The fan on the psu was 120mm as standard. So its obvious to swap it for a nice orange nexus. I have got a scyth katana for my socket A. My cpu is a 2500xp barton. I have got no other fans in my system except for the 120mm psu fan and the kata...

I see well i think same here the heat is not an issue. I tried the 155 mhz FSB and it ran prime95 for 17 hours before i got tired and stopped it. I have reseated the zalman heatsink and i think it sits on the chip much better than it did before. Gonna try the test at 166 again just above stock volts...

The NF7-S is rated for 200mhz and i'm running it at 166 which is the default for my xp 2500. I guess i could try and put a few more volts through the chipset the zalman heatsnik ontop of it is barely warm.

oky i tried memtest and the memory seems fine. I did it for 4 hours and i think it made like 13/14 pass's.

I am gonna try and lower the fsb to 155mhz which will give me 1.7 ghz and see what happens then.

quick update at 1.75v @ stock it just managed 8 hours before giving a rounding error again. My next option is to put the fsb down to 155 instead of 166 at the default multi of 11. I'll have just above 1.7ghz and hopefully it will survive this round of prime95. My vcore is a touch above default at 1....

whats wrong with my cpu?

oky guys i got a slight problem with prime95. After 12 hours of torture testing my cpu fails to give a number. Its a rounding error from what i remeber which usually means the cpu is overclocked too much (its at stock and i am not gonna overclock it at all) or its not got enough juice. Its default v...

If the dust is heavy on the heat sink fins or elsewhere, I'll use a portable vacuum cleaner and have it resolved in a few minutes. I might vacuum a computer once, maybe twice per year. Question: Are you're concerned at all about static build up and discharge with a vacuum cleaner (even a portable o...

I'v never bought a Dell. I was thinking of making the ducting out of acrylic. I did Systems and Control from technology at A-level and worked with plastics everyday. Making Moulds and heating up the sheets of plastic then putting the moulds beneath them and cooling them. Instead of using some papers...

Ducting

I have read many articles on ducting and i am convinced that ducting has alot to offer cooling. Here is my proposed idea/ theory. Right now there are 2 components which wither come with or require a fan to cool it. 1) CPU 2) GPU 3) Northbridge From the list above the GPU has a sort of ducting heatsi...

PCI-E?

If you have a PCI-E mobo but have an old psu which you bought before PCI-E was out will you still be able to use the PCI-E on the mobo. I ask this because i have seen on some sites that some psu's have pci-e power connectors and i'm wondering if you can only use pci-e if the psu has a pci-e power co...
