Thermalright's website says that the V1 (non-ultra) is not compatible with the 7800 series, but the dimensions are virtually identical, so it may fit. It may not cool it as well though?

Sorry, newbie question: How difficult is it to remove the stock cooler on an EVGA 7800GT? Do I just gently pry it off? I have the V1 Ultra waiting to install, but all the installation guides I can find start with the video card already having the stock cooler removed. And I'm finding it tricky to di...

So 10 gm heavier, but the photos and specs seem otherwise identical. Their installation pages use the exact same photo for the retention bracket for the V1 and Ultra (but labelled seperately as V1 and V1 Ultra brackets), but somehow they're now compatible with the 7800 series? Perhaps they just have...

That may be true, but the speaker I ordered is only $0.99 plus $3.40 to ship it here, and it slips into a socket on the motherboard, so it wins on price and ease of use. However it does lose on having to wait, but it looks like it will be another couple days before I get some of my other components ...

A reasonable suggestion, except my current computer is hooked up to speakers through a stereo receiver, and it is not physically convenient to connect to this sound system from where I'm building the pc. So the little mobo speaker I've ordered looks to be the cheapest and simplest way to get sound g...

Re: mobo speaker on Asus A8N-SLI Premium?

You meant speaker I presume. Indeed I did. Asus wanted to save an extra dime on each board. Cheapskates. It does seem odd to me as well. These are "Deluxe" and "Premium" boards, and they are literally saving a dime. Now I have to order this from the States and wait to have it arrive so I can...

mobo speaker on Asus A8N-SLI Premium?

I read somewhere in this very helpful forum that many modern mobos have a tiny speaker on them. But I can't find one on the Asus A8N-SLI Premium I'm putting in my new build, so I'm assuming I'll have to buy one in order to hear the beeps from BIOS/POST codes. There does not seem to be a case fan in ...

Thanks for the photos, ozdoc! Now I'm wondering about clearance for the first couple RAM slots, with the HS in either orientation. The newer SI-120 sits a little higher and would prob clear the RAM sticks just fine, but then again it's also 140mm x 120mm instead of 110 x 125, so one could have probs...

Building very similar setup here too, so I'll also PM my email and photo request.

"in situ" - ozdoc, you must be a doc, who else would use that term? :D

Can someone with this case kindly do a couple measurements for me? I've seen the official specs (included in MikeC's initial tour and Ralf's review) for total height and width, but to squeeze it into the space I'm considering, I need to know the height with the feet off, and the height of the case n...

Well that's good news. Sure will have to take a good look at your mobo and PCI card arrangement to see if that 60 x 47 x 69mm part will fit - people can barely fit their NB47J's (37 x 37 x 47) in there on some boards.

I'd also really like to know the answer to egghat's question, i.e. can I use a bluetooth keyboard (apple's or others') with both my mac and the pc I'm planning on building? It would appear (at first glance) that I could forgo the use of a KVM switch for the keyboard that way (unless I was going to a...
