Just wanted to share an observation about the composition of the frame of the Gentle Typhoon fans. I bought one of the 500RPM models a few months ago to use in the top exhaust position of my P183. Because the corners of this fan are "semi-closed" I had to remove material from two of the corners to u...

I've tried the Aerocool offerings and found them to be obtrusively bright and not perform well with any resitriction. They are actually a thinner fan (20mm), and since there is a large amount of space between the edge of the blades and the inside of the frame, the fans exhibited a noticeable amount ...

Just as a FYI, the D14SL-12 will develop bearing noise when mounted horizontally. It is a 140mm fan with the motor hub of a 120mm fan, and as such the bearing is not up to the additional load of the larger blades.

No one has recommended it yet, but I'll say it - stay away from the Cosmos, it takes too much effort to make silent. HDD vibration causes humming in several spots throughout the case that calls for full-blown drive suspension to cure. Lots of space and ample build quality, but otherwise a PITA for s...

Try unplugging the power from the hard drives and DVD drives, then boot up the computer. Enter the BIOS if you wish to prevent error messages coming up, but the worst thing that will happen is just that, an error mesage. If the hum is gone, shut down and plug components in one at a time until you di...

royalcrown, When using the rear fan as an intake, you will still have the top fan as an exhaust, assuming you haven't permanently modified the case disallowing the use of that hole. Granted, there are worthwhile concerns about noise emission when using the top exhaust port, but so long as you keep t...

Hmm, I would suggest using the rear fan as an intake, but you mentioned that the CPU fan is situated exhausting hot air towards the rear-side exhaust, and this would cause much turbulence. If I remember correctly, that heatsink cannot be rotated in orientation, correct? I would definitely suggest du...

Long time no post guys... I've had these pics for a while but never got around to posting them. Bluefront, Out of curiousity, do you have any concerns about the Permatex compound you're using drying into a semi-porous material? I used that setup in my P180, though I set the rear fan to be an intake rather than exhaust. Hey all, I recently purchased a few of the Yate Loon D14-SM12 fans from Jab-Tech for the top panel of my CM Cosmos and am pretty disappointed. The mesh drive cover plates from the CM Cosmos fit the P180 pretty well from what you can see below, and they look the part as well. This is a good mod, but... I don't really see the point.
