Have you already suspended the Raptor using the elastics that come with the case? I have an Antec Solo with a suspended 74GB Raptor, and the seek noise is rather faint (the same drive hard mounted was VERY loud). Its being used in a different system, so unfortunately i cant use the elastic. I've ra...

[Quieting] a WD raptor 150GB

Short and to the point: I have a raptor 150GB, and its seek noise is impressively loud. (in a bad way) I have two cages in mind at the moment: The Nexus Drive-A-Way and the scythe quiet drive. I know both of those will help the idle noise, and the nexus claims to be ok for 15kRPM drives (the raptor ...

GameXstream 600W fan mod

Okay, so the PSU is great but the fan is noisy as hell. I put a Nexus 120mm in there a few months back at 10V and all was peachy until recently, when the following things changed... A: i bought an x1900XT (over an x1800XL) B: australian summer so umm, the PSU overheated and my PC crashed a lot. It (...

that WD drive looks good, but at $400 aussie for a 500GB drive, its a lot less $-per-MB than what i'd like.

Could you find a link to the thread you mentioned about the samsungs? i tried searching, but i couldnt find it.

Hard drives!

Well hello all, i'm out to upgrade my storage and i've hit a problem. Currently, i run small drives (10GB upto 120GB's) to boot the OS from, and then samsung SP2504C's for storage. Problem is, they arent big enough anymore and i need to get more storage in my server system. I need silent drives whic...

Hard drive choice

http://www.vtechindustries.com.au/productinfo.php?id=SP2504C Samsung spinpoint 250GB SATA for $185 aussie. As things stand i have WD 250 hard drives, 2 IDE with sata convertors running raid. It's noisier than thermaltake coolers, to say the least. Rather than waste time and money trying to silence t...

updates: Did a mini-review here. http://www.3dchipset.com/forum/showthread.php?t=468 upside: 10C less on CPU temp, same noise level. Downside: broke the bloody fan (lol) so now it vibrates pretty bad (is inaudible tho) question: i can get a pana with or without RPM sensor as a replacement... is ther...

got it today. Xp-90 alu with panaflo lo... the pana is a lot quieter than i expected, but with a loud whine that fades quickly with distance/something blocking it. i assume at less than 10V the fan will be just fine tho. Came in a plain brown box, base was mirror smooth, but dirty. Will install it l...

dual 80mm exhaust right now (antec 1000AMG case) but i'll certainly try the fan both ways.

What fan for XP-90?

I've been talked into an XP-90 (not C) by members of this forum a while ago, and my supplier (www.pccasegear.com.au) has an option where it comes with a panaflo low or high speed fan. the low seems closer to what i'm after (silent PC) however the high is the same cost and has an RPM sensor. I plan o...

well i'm aussie and so US websites are useless. it would cost me about $70 for for XP-90 and $90 for the XP-90C (aussie $$, that is) i'm thinking thats worth it because the C model still weighs less than the 7000A, and comes pre-lapped (or so i have heard) those C/W ratings sure have my interest at ...

Well i'm rather crap at lapping :D Honestly however, have you had any issues taking that thing OFF? i hear that theres a lot of tension and it can be difficult. And what really matters is XP90 Vs. Zalman 7000.. and FYI the zalman blows just as much air around it as the XP90 does, and with my 120mm a...

Upgrading cooling: XP90 (c) advice please.

I currently run a Zalman 7000A with a SilenX 120mm fan mounted above it via a Zalman FB123 fan bracket. (stock fan is removed, helped temps a little) I'm runninga venice 3500+ @ 9X300 (2.7Ghz) and although my ram can do about 315 or so (DDR 633) my CPU bottoms out at about 2.75GHz, regardless of vol...
