Re: GREENPEACE Green Guide to Electronics 5th ed. released
It's ironic to see Apple, a company that projects such a "clean" image to their products, score so low.

I doubt the small amount of energy saved by buying a 750W PSU instead of a 400-500W will outweigh the extra waste when it ends up at a landfill. And even if systems that draw that much exist, it doesn't mean they should exist, and they are pointless for consumer applications. Ultimately this falls i...

This is one of the final points gamers/overclockers fall back to once you prove to them that their 700W PSUs aren't necessary. They will try to justify their purchase by stating that a 700W PSU will last longer than a 400W one because it is somehow being "stressed less." PSUs are not like the human ...

A fun and cynical history lesson: In the old days, when someone had an instability problem, people would actually try to individually troubleshoot each of your components on hardware forums. Most of the time, the answer to the problem was found: bad ram, unstable drivers, too high an overclock, gene...

It's not a great article anyway, but as mentioned, it will be ignored by every gamer/overclocker out there, much like the "inconvenient" parts of this entire site. Here is an example of a typical thread in an overclocker forum: Person 1: I'm looking for a quite [sic] 600W+ power supply for my C2D sy...

I'm not entirely sure this is sarcasm... Just in case: gamers get the blame of a lot of things lately. I say, blame the car drivers (for example). For the heat a car generates in half an hour, someone could play games for a week (not considering exhaust gases that contribute as well) and still not ...

I wouldn't be surprised if the 330W Seasonic powered all of that just fine, especially in a case with a thermal zone for the PSU like the P180.

In my opinion, all of these "proper" PSU reviews popping up like JonnyGuru aren't really helping anything at all. The vast majority of them test 700W+ power supplies, and of course recommend them, thus perpetuating the myth that a system draws 500W+ of power. Frankly, I would rather have people buyi...
