Re: GREENPEACE Green Guide to Electronics 5th ed. released

It's ironic to see Apple, a company that projects such a "clean" image to their products, score so low.

I doubt the small amount of energy saved by buying a 750W PSU instead of a 400-500W will outweigh the extra waste when it ends up at a landfill. And even if systems that draw that much exist, it doesn't mean they should exist, and they are pointless for consumer applications. Ultimately this falls i...

This is one of the final points gamers/overclockers fall back to once you prove to them that their 700W PSUs aren't necessary. They will try to justify their purchase by stating that a 700W PSU will last longer than a 400W one because it is somehow being "stressed less." PSUs are not like the human ...

A fun and cynical history lesson: In the old days, when someone had an instability problem, people would actually try to individually troubleshoot each of your components on hardware forums. Most of the time, the answer to the problem was found: bad ram, unstable drivers, too high an overclock, gene...

Keep in mind that that Thermaltake unit can actually output 300W, not 350W. Regardless, it doesn't matter, it should be able to power that system. As with any fanless PSU, insure that you have enough airflow to run it safely.

You still don't need 750W, and frankly, I think the power supply is the last thing you should worry about being loud with a system like that. Also, unless you have some sort of duct to feed fresh air into the PSU all the time, the heat from those components will likely ramp up the PSU fan anyway.
