Try using a zalman fanmate 2 to control the silencer. The high pitched whine sounds like it might be coming from your power supply.

Your raptor will be the loudest component of your system besides the northbridge. Also, the nexus real silent case fan (120mm) is well.. really silent.

You might have to mod a zalman nb47 to make it fit, but it's very easy to do - just use pliers and bend the fins.

get a nexus 120mm real silent case fan, and replace your psu with a seasonic s12

Yup, it's very fast. The raptor is kinda "loud" though (relatively loud). If the raptor's off, you really have to strain to hear anything. Though, all and all it's very quiet.
