Hehe, a "BIONIC_EARS style vent". I based my duct off the one by WR304 in this thread (middle of first page): http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=40686&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 The main point of that thread was that underclocking the card for 2D mode is well worth doing, al...

Thanks for the drawing also B_E... about 100x more precise than I would have achieved!

Guys, thanks for the responses.... I had removed a couple of PCI slot covers below the GPU as well as my home made GPU partition, so I'll see if I can construct a BIONIC_EARS style vent for the cooler also to help more heat out instead of recirculating. My mistake overall for swapping out the 7900GT...

Oh alright, just a thought. Appears it's the sheer volume of heat being produced, possibly also the way it's being handled by the cooling system. Those temperatures are nothing alarming, certainly not enough to warrant an extra PC just to 'fix' that. A better exhaust fan, a clever GPU cooler and yo...

How big is the new card compared to the old one? Is it perhaps blocking airflow? Usually if temps drop dramatically with side panel removed, that means the airflow needs improving. Cards are same length (give or take few mm)... I made some improvements last night by creating a full length/full widt...

P180 Case temps - large difference with side panel off

Hi, I've had my P180 for over 2 years now and slowly been upgrading it's contents over time... until recently I had my C2D E6600 (o/c to 3.2GHz at 1.325v) running nicely with a GeForce 7900GTO and coretemp idle temps of 35-39 degrees C and load temps of 48-52 degrees C. I have 3 case fans, one back ...

Are those temps from TAT or CoreTemp??? I found I had to up the VCore to almost 1.4V to reach 3GHz with my E4300. Coretemp - I'd assumed that meant they were accurate, but +15 degrees makes sense (sort of!) and would bring them in line with my E6600. Guess I'm lucky it does this with no vCore incre...

I have 3 C2D systems, an E6600 @ 3.2GHz, an E6300 @ stock (1.86Ghz) and an E4300 @ 3.0GHz - the E4300 is in my media centre PC which is running at stock voltage, Thermalright Ultra120, P5W-DH, generic PC2 5300 RAM and virtually silent - the E6600 is in my games machine running at 1.325v, Thermalrigh...

This is mainly as it seems cheaper than the Ultra-120, and I can't find the Ultra-120 in stock in the UK. Anyone know where this is in stock in UK? Thanks for the quick replies. I am put off from the 680i boards due to lots of problems I keep hearing people are getting with them. The striker extreme is too expensive for a motherboard in my opinion. I looked into the Asus Commando but couldnt really find any big differences between it and the P...

russsss, how come you didn't try the p5b deluxe or the badaxe? Their lack of dual NICs fundamentally - neither P5B or Badaxe had dual NICs which I need for my setup at home - could have bought a second NIC card, but like them being integrated! I bought a P5W-DH first (back in October) and was pleas...

I posted this response to a similar query a week or so ago, as I've sampled many many 775 boards and settled on a P5W-DH and AW9D-MAX.. "I would stay clear of nVidia chipsets personally for C2D - I've owned an Asus P5W DH (975X), Abit AW9D-MAX (975X), Asus Commando (965), eVGA (nVidia 680i), Asus P5...

I would stay clear of nVidia chipsets personally for C2D - I've owned an Asus P5W DH (975X), Abit AW9D-MAX (975X), Asus Commando (965), eVGA (nVidia 680i), Asus P5N32E-SLI (680i) - the 680's ran stupidly hot on the chipset (too hot to touch) and the eVGA even with the "hotfix" BIOS update had the SA...

Does it REALLY make that much difference to the noise? The intention with the P180 is to run low-speed/low-noise fans, so the effort of removing the grilles can't be worth the return of fractionally reduced noise, can it?

I've considered the NSK2400, thinking that to spray the facia black would be pretty simple and then it's a bargain Fusion (without the VFD and volume knob of course).

I have a similar system (see sig) however I went for an Asus P5W DH (as only £10 more than a 965-based mobo) - negates the need for a X-Fi card as the HDD Audio is excellent in my opinion. I have a Thermalright Ultra 120 and E6600 O/C'd to 3.2GHz runs at 35 degrees C idle with 900rpm fan (40 degree...

I just used some long black "bag ties" (4-5 inches long) to go through the fan holes and then through the drive bay holes - seems to hold them quite secure, as my P180B was before the paper clip versions....

May give Antec an email though to see if they'll send some paper clips for nowt....

Got my new front door about 3 weeks ago - it came as a complete front, not just the door - I didn't want to replace the whole thing though (having hidden my USB/LED cables) so just swapped the door - works a treat and no warping so far. Doesn't hit the on/off switch either when closed (if that helps).
