Fan control for GA-M57SLI-S4
Hi all. Just built a new systems with the GA-M57SLI-S4 motherboard. I am using the latest version of speedfan, but it reports very strange numbers for the fans and cannot control them. I had fan control enabled in the BIOS, and Speedfan reported speeds of 5000RPM, 10000RPM etc. for fans which are ac...

BUMP...just wanted to find out if anyone out there has perhaps gotten one of these yet (either the AMD or Intel version) and how they perform in terms of noise. Cheers, X PS. They seem almost identical to the Thermaltake TMG coolers, except that the equivalent TMG cooler has a mounting system which ...

Yeah, I bit the bullet and ordered the Nexus fans. Those Coolink fans were appealing due to their much lower price: not only are they roughly half the price of the Nexus fans, but the site I was going to order them from (Nintek) has 50% off too, so they'd end up around 1/4 of the price of the Nexus!

GA-M57SLI-S4 Owners: how many fans can be controlled
Hi all. As the topic suggests, I just wanted to ask anyone who owns or has used the Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 motherboard, how many fans can be controlled (in particular, with Speedfan). I know the CPU fan can be controlled, but there are two more fan headers ("system" and "power") - can any of these be...

Has anyone tried the Coolink SWiF series? Would they fit in here? This is their 120mm fan series, looking particularly at the model 1200.

Coolink SWiF Fans??
Hi all. I need to get some fans for my new system. I need to order from overseas and someone will bring them for me, so price is an important factor. I had my eyes on the Nexus fans as they seem to be the reference around here (I need 2x120mm and 1x92mm fan). However I came across the Coolink SWiF f...

Question About Installing Memory (DIMM Sockets)
Just a quick question regarding installation of the RAM modules in my Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4: I have 2x1GB Kingston Valueram DDR2 memory which I want to run in dual channel. The manual says I should install it in either DIMM1/DIMM2 or in DIMM3/DIMM4. It says though that if there are only two modules,...

I haven't tried the RAM in slots 3 and 4, if I remember correctly it will work but at a tiny performance loss. Hmmm, ok. Any particular reason for the performance loss? Also, does it only touch memory with heatspreaders (generally overclocking or gaming type memory) or also regular RAM modules? I h...

Coolermaster Hyper TX AMD
Hi all. Trying to help a friend put together a quiet PC and he has very limited options for coolers (AM2 based system). He originally wanted to go for the Zalman coolers, but from reviews and user comments, they aren't that quiet (9500, 9700 etc.) and they are also very large/heavy. He prefers somet...

Good the M57SLI - will install this weekend hopefully :D spookmineer - Gigabyte trumps Asus in my books unless you are tooking the top of the range stuff. The lower-to-mid range staff it seems are increasingly being released or developed half-baked. RAM issues, stability etc. Giga are now known for ...

CPU Cooler: Choice Based On Blowing Direction?
Hi all. Helping someone put together a system and had a question regarding CPU coolers. I have read that usually a cooler blowing sideways is considered better than one blowing down onto the mobo, but usually only if it is toward the exhaust. The coolers in question are the TT TMG a1, TMG a2, and Bi...

Thermaltake Big Typhoon VX: Fan Control?
Hi all. I have a quick question about the Thermaltake Big Typhoon VX. I know that the newer VX version, unlike the original, come with a fan controller built onto the cooler. From what I have see, the control cable for the fan goes straight to that controller and only the speed sensing wires go to t...

I just let the heatsink push the capacitor, to bend it fully out of the way would risk breaking it and I am not aware that there is any danger from this sort of thing.... ...if you read the manual for that mobo though you will see the way I have positioned my memory is the way they do dual channel ...

Gigabyte GA-M55S-S3: Cool 'n Quiet?
Hi all. For my new system, the nForce 550 is more than sufficient and the Gigabyte GA-M55S-S3 would be ideal. I decided however to go for other (more expensive) boards simply because I found out that the M55S-S3 does not have CnQ. I have heard though that the latest BIOS implements CnQ now - can any...

GA-M57SLI-S4: Compatibile with Ninja Rev. B?
As the thread topic says, just wanted to ask if anyone knows whether the Scythe Ninja Rev B is compatible with the Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 mobo.

nForce4 SLi vs nForce 500 Series??
Hi all. I am builing a new AM2 system and it needs to be first-and-foremost solid and stable. I can get for around the same price, either an nForce4 SLi motherboard (Asus M2N4-SLi) or the nForce 570 motherboard (Asus M2N-E). Is there any particular reason to go for the nForce 500 series over the nFo...

GA-M57SLI-S4 Opinion?? (and Ninja Compatibility)
Hi all. I have narrowed down my AM2 mobo choice to either the Asus M2N-E or the Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4. From what I have read, the Gigabyte is more stable and less RAM-fussy than the Asus. I wanted to ask a) if anyone has had experience with this board; and b) if the Ninja Rev. B would fit on it? Che...
