Re: Silent / Quiet and powerful notebook?
I just got a new Dell Latitude E6320. 13" screen, i5-2520M, 8Gb Ram and a 128Gb SSD. It is the first computer I have ever had that is completely silent. It is also the fastest machine I've ever had. Fan only comes on when doing something like encoding video - it's never come on when browsing the web...

Re: Quiet / Noisy Monitor Survey
Dell U2711 - rev A07 made in China on 220volts in Ireland: Transformer hum noise when brightness below 60% otherwise silent. This is annoying as I have a completely silent laptop (SSD + no fan) and a very quiet environment. I guess in many environments the hum would not be noticeable. Others have st...

PCICASE PC-8601BS
I've just built a nice machine with the above case. It has similar layout to the Antec 3700BQE from a cooling point-of-view. Available for £37 fro eBuyer in the UK (Quickfind code: 90899). Photos from the manufacturer here: http://www.pcicase.co.uk/extraimages.ihtml?pid=591 Pros: 1. Excellent intake...

thanks for your thoughts everyone. at the moment i'm coming down on the seasonic side of things. my planned system is not going to be overly powerful / overclocked. and silence *is* the most important aim. the ducting option certainly makes sense - but perhaps i'm starting to think it's too much wor...

Tagan TG480 U22 compared to Seasonic S12 430?
Anyone know how this Tagan (TG480 U22) is noise wise? Especially compared to the Seasonic S12 430. I like the Tagan as it has inline fans and may thus facillitate making a PSU duct from the 5.25 bays as described in these forums. But noise is crucial to me so I'd go Seasonic unless someone has good ...

That's just what I needed to know - thank you Tibors. So I'll probably go with the Abit AN8 Ultra which has passively cooled Northbridge and has lots of space to the Graphics Card slot. Freezer 64 fan will be pointing up at the PSU - but not a problem based on what you say about air coming out the s...

Which orientation for CPU cooler? And is my spec OK?
My first post - I've been lurking for a while. Thank you all for such great information and reviews. OK - I plan to build a system with: Coolermaster Cavalier 3 (I like the look and will mod to increase front intake airflow) AMD 64 3000 Venice Seasonic S12 430W 2*Spinponts suspended vertically in lo...
