I GOT IT!!! The registry change was the problem!! I changed it back, went into the boot menu and now everything is named correctly and it is booting on the WD. I'm re-formating the Samsung right now. I'll need to image it later on tomorrow. Just maybe I can fallow one of your methods above and get a...

You are currently booting from the WD drive (PATA). This is now called drive "C". You also have a second hard drive, a Samsung (SATA). This is now called "E". The computer boots fine and runs normally without the Samsung attached. Is the above correct? YES! You got it! I got so mad at the the Samsu...

I have entered BIOS. That is how I've been turning my drives off and on. I physically removed the Samsung from my computer to see which drive I was booting on and everything works correctly. Since the registry change all my programs and shortcuts have worked correctly, so I must have changed the boo...

I'm trying to format drive E and it says it cannot format because drive E is currently in-use??? I'm beyond confused at this point! It asks do you want to force a dismount? Yes or No? Should I say yes. I think this comes back to drive data name. Is the computer running booting on both drives somehow...

I got confused as you made some unnecessary (to my point of view) registry changes. Which of the two OS did you tweak with the registry change? I changed the registery when I was booted on the Samsung. Note that there is no such thing as "second partition of disk C." There is no such thing as disk ...

In the my-computer/manage/disk management menu it says "System" is still on the second partition of the Samsung, which is now disk E. "Page File" is on the second partition of disk C. WHY??? Doesn't this mean something? Why is the computer saying the system is now on Drive E and not drive C??? Than...

When I click on the icon in the system tray and hit "update" the program will go out to their sever and come back and say please download the new update. I'm in trouble now!!! Someone help!!!! I posted over on the Dell forum. They said the error was caused by me connecting the drive in the SATA 0 port. They said to move it over to SATA 1, erase and start over. Problem was that the computer had already renamed the new disk as C:. It would only boot on...

Update: I deleted all the manual partitions and let the WD software do the work. It partitioned the drive and copied all my files/OS over. It then set-up the new drive as drive C: and the old as drive E:. It set the new drive to boot first and I'm running on the new drive right now. I think I may be...

I copied the factory drive partition. 31mb FAT (un-named), remainder 149.02GB NTSF (named as drive E:) Is this good? Should I run the WD duplication software that was rec...

UPDATE: I got the drive in the case, figured out how to connect everything up. Went into the set-up menu upon start up and the BIOS sees the Samsung drive. There IS a little plastic jumper with the thing! On the old WD that is the primary drive has the plastic jumper is pre-installed but not in-use ...

One thing I don't understand how it works, but it does, is the sound transmission to my sound blaster 2 ZS audio card? On my old ATI 9000 Pro there was an external sound connector from the video card output down to the audio card input. There must be something on the motherboard or am I'm missing so...

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone on here! I got the new 7600GS installed and said goodbye to the noisy ATI 9000 Pro. Wow!!! This card is great and makes no noise at all! The software/drivers that come with the card are 150 times better then anything ATI could write!! I purchased two sticks of...
