Forgot to mention this. I just spotted the Antec Smart Power 500W on sale at Comp USA in today's paper. "$59.99 after $15 instant savings and $25 Mfr, mail-in rebate". It was way more power than I needed in my system, but I did find the modular cables a plus. There's just something very satisfying a...

I just got through replacing my Seasonic S12 380W with the Antec SmartPower 500W. I've got an Asus A8N-E motherboard in the P180. No problem with the 24 pin cable with either PSU. The 4 pin was just long enough to run under the video card to make the connection while using the Seasonic. This meant p...

For those of you reading this thread and considering the purchase of a Scythe Ninjya for a 939 board, I consider allycat's opposite corners first mounting tip a much better method than the one side first and then the other method I used. Sure wish I had thought of that at the time. There's no way fo...

Garry, on the back of my mobo there’s some soldered blobs on the circuits. This prevents one of the 4 corners of the bracket (one closest to the port sockets) from being bolted down close to the mobo, and therefore unstable. Did you not have this problem? I encountered no solder blobs significant e...

I have the Scythe SCNJ-1000 mounted on the A8N-E. I encountered no problem in using the Scythe back plate on the mobo, so I suggest you review that step. I did, however, find that considerable pressure was required to get the HS mounting clips attached to the retention brackets. Here's a quote from ...

I bookmarked this thread some time back and am now getting ready to put it to use. WOW! A simple, effective, versitle, and inexpensive mounting method. Thanks bluefront. Now that I have reviewed the post however, I find I don't really understand one aspect I skimmed over the first time. bluefront sa...

Manual fan control and Cool & Quiet?
I plan on using the Cool & Quiet feature on my newly ordered Asus A8N-E motherboard. I used a fan controller in my previous system but not Cool & Quiet. Are there reasons why I might still want to use a fan controller in addition to Cool & Quiet on my new build?

Feedback from each of you much appreciated. After a few modifications in my original parts list, I went ahead and completed my online orders today. Thanks ronrem for pointing out an obvious problem with my first post. Whether or not the parts and the resulting system seem appropriate is indeed depen...

This site has bumped Maximum PC down to second place on my PCGeekPleasure meter. A hearty thanks to Mike, the reviewers, moderators, and members who are responsible for making this the second thing I check after email each day.
