FS: Full System - VIA EPIA, 1GB, PicoPSU, almost brand new

As a LONG time reader of SPCR, I hope that at least one of you silence nuts (like me!) are interested in this nearly brand-new gem of a system. :) This is for the sale of a fully-built system that was designed from the ground up to be dead silent (it is!) and use VERY little power. According to repo...

Well there's always the 200-watt picopsu option as well, but I can't find any external bricks that can output 200 watts without a fan.

Can anyone help?

Also, does anyone know of any good G33 boards with good undervolting options both for ram and cpu?

PicoPSU 120W sufficient for server use?

Hi, I'm a LONG time SPCR reader, although my post count probably doesn't reflect that :D I'm looking to build a quiet server to replace the Infrant ReadyNAS NV+ I just sent back. What a piece of crap. But that's beside the point. I just want a fast file server that can encode 1080p video every once ...

Update: I just found the Rainier Edition here: http://www.niveusmedia.com/products/rainier07.htm It's the same case as the HFX Mini with different front and rear panel design as well as different side heatsinks. This case HAS to be available to purchase somewhere in the US. The only place i found in...

how much power does a computer use in standby? assume a core 2 duo machine with 2 gigs of ram and a geforce 8800gtx. CPU speed shouldnt matter. I'm interested in this because this is a worst case scenario using very good suspend hardware on the motherboard.

It's not really necessary considering you'll be seeing eight FULL FEATURED cores in 2008. Four full featured cores in a native quad core design will probably outperform a Cell in most tests anyways. You'll be able to buy something like that in a few months from AMD. The most impressive part of the C...

so basically mCubed is the one who rebranded it for VidaBox?

It's SUCH a nice case. I'm definetely getting one, but I was just hoping to find a U.S. manufacturer or retailer to get it for cheaper. It's way overpriced.

HFX Mini ODM or OEM ???

Hi,
Does anyone know who the source/manufacturer of the HFX Mini cases is?

Vidabox now sells exactly the same case with their logo stamped on it, so now i'm very curious: http://www.vidabox.com/Products/STEALTH.htm

the temperature threshold for those cards is 120 degrees C, so you are WELL within the temp limits of the card. take a look in the driver control panel, it should show you the card temp (and mention that the max temp is 120C). I know its there for my 6800GT.

by the way, you CAN fit 12 drives in the Chenbro case. 8 in the fan-cooled stock locations. one in each 5.25" bay. one in the vertical floppy bay. yes its a tight fit but it would work i think. obviously, since you already have the case, if it doesnt work that way please let me know before i buy it :)

I would guess an asus board because it supports both CnQ and QFan to keep noise down (if it matters). As for a case, ill be building a server with 12 hard drives so this was by far the best case i found: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811123079 Newegg sells the exact same case ...

Pentium4 2.4C Undervolted to 1.1V

Just thought I would share with you guys a successful undervolt from the default 1.5V and change down to 1.1V. I am running an asus p4c800-e deluxe with the latest firmware (1023 i believe). I'm using AI Booster to undervolt. Dropped my idle CPU temp from 36C to 30C. I've tested this with games, etc...

linux is a headache regardless of what card you have. i've used both a radeon 9700 and a geforce 6800gt and both suck in linux. the 6800gt was obviously faster, but my recommendation is to stick to linux for servers (its all i use for servers, windows servers suck, i used to have one) and windows fo...

i think toledo is much less power efficient than venice. if you look at the lostcircuits review of the Athlon64 X2 it shows power consumption of an X2 to be more than twice that of a similarly clocked single-core venice A64. i'm sure part of it is attributable to the fact there are TWO caches and tw...

i did some searching and came up with this: http://www.lostcircuits.com/cpu/amd_x2/11.shtml

is it true: does the toledo core in the X2 really suck that bad efficiency-wise? i know its 2 cores instead of one but damn its more than twice the power requirement.

Venice vs. Toledo Core

Hi, I'm a pretty long-time reader of SPCR but i havent gotten around to signing up for the forums until now. Great to be here :) Anyways, I searched all through the forum and couldnt find the answer to my question: if you were to power down one of the cores in a dual-core Athlon64 X2 CPU (Toledo cor...
