I wouldn't recommend the Nexus for that application, especially if it won't start by itself if it ever does stop.

If your PSU is making noise though, can you RMA it? Usually they are virtually silent.

I have the Sonota and the 8800GTX would not fit. I have an 8800GTS and it barely fits so there for sure would be no room for the GTX. Assuming the Sonata III is along the same lines inside as the Sonata and II, they the GTX will not fit. I'm sure you can find some specs on Antec's site for dimensions.

The quality differences would be so slight that you would never notice it. The main advantage with DVI is that you never have to adjust the geometry of your monitor. I disagree. DVI quality is much better than VGA. Text and graphics are more sharp and crisp. But you should try it out yourself. You ...

I own a GTS and I can not hear it. It runs a bit warm (mid to high 60s at idle) but it is the first video card I have gotten in a long time that does not need an aftermarket cooler to make it quiet. As was said it does not seem to spin up much in games although I haven't played much Oblivion on it y...

Just connect straight from the VGA output of your video card to the VGA input of the monitor. The quality differences would be so slight that you would never notice it.

The main advantage with DVI is that you never have to adjust the geometry of your monitor.

Quake 4 is an OpenGL based game and Vista has no built in support for OpenGL. Your frame rates are actually pretty good considering that. Vista has put the onus on the hardware makers to write openGL support into their drivers so expect your performance to increase when that happens. The card is act...

As far as I see it you can do this: If you don't game at all, just replace the card with a newer passive card. If you do game and you really can't afford to upgrade, find a replacement fan. If that means strapping an 80mm fan onto the heatsink with zip ties, then so be it. The third option would be ...

The HDD cage is orientated in the wrong fashion for optimal airflow. Is this the case in the old Sonata? We're kind of in a tough spot since we both have AGP. If we had PCI-E we would have a much easier time with cooling, especially the 6600GT. The X700 Pro is not faster than a 6600GT. http://graphics.tomshardware.com/graphic/20050524/vga_charts-05.html At 1280x1024 the 6600GT is ahead of the X700 oro. The 6600GT is an all around better performing card, plus you can buy it passive from Gigabyte. My temperatures have been fine. The extra RA...

There isn't much air movement up there, pull the front 5.25 cover off and blow a fan in there. If the temperature drops to a respectable temperature then you know the drive was warm, if it doesn't then you know the sensor is off.

I don't think the schooner would work - I took a look at the website, it doesn't take into account that the core on the AGP version is moved, and the HSI needs to be cooled as well. Your current heatsink acts to cool both the core and the HSI chip. A lot of cards don't do that, and have a seperate h...

RAID 0 just isn't worth it on a desktop computer. You double your chances to lose your data, and for almost no gain. You would be better off running the drives as seperate drives. If your budget is as high as you say, go for a 6600GT right off the bat - the performance of the 6600GT is around double the 6200, and about quadruple the 6200TC32/64 Plus, when you decide to go SLI you only need to buy one card, and in the mean time your won't have an absolutely crappy card.
