Starting to back up and ... gosh :x only 5Mb/s writting : I was shocked and feeling abused. What was this shit they had sold me !?...

Sadly its an SATAII drive and my motherboard only has standard SATA drive ports. SATA II drives, at least both of my Samsungs, work fine on regular SATA ports. There's a jumper (supplied with the HDD) that is set for SATA "I" operation. No bridge or other cable required. You won't get SATA II perfo...

AFAIK 99% of the standalone ATX cases can also accomodate the smaller µATX boards.

The only thing needed to ensure the compatibility (that's what you need to check for) is whether there are additionnal mounting holes for the µATX.

The Solo definitely has the edge on the other 2 cases :
- bigger / more numerous fans,
- heavier construction and damping material,
- less airflow imedance,
- indirect sound paths,
- HD suspension.

Not even a close call ....

I have long wondered if ducting in or even adding an intake fan can effectively remove some workload from the exhaust and allow it to run quieter.

Otherwise you could try and duct the SI 120 to one of the exhaust fans.
It should significantly improve your temps.
