Current forum posts not appearing on Home page

I see that current forum posts, for example the post by CA_Steve Re: Silent Workstation PC Build (Mid 2018) posted on Sun Feb 02, 2020 are no longer appearing on the Home Page as used to be the case. This gives the impression for people who just look at the Home Page that there is no forum activity ...

I just want the one that's black with no windows. The first one on your list https://www.alternate.es/Fractal-Design/Define-R6-USB-C-Midi-ATX-Tower-Negro-Cajas-de-torre/html/product/1458998?event=search is different from the others. Re: There is no such thing as silent PC

I had a family member who went the 'PC in another room' route using long HDMI, network and USB cables through a hole in the wall to connect the PC to a large screen TV. The USB cable terminated in a USB hub positioned close to the TV set. The network cable plugged into a router that was a short dist...

Re: the impossible quest of finding a dead quiet, low-power

A PSU which you might consider is the Seasonic Focus SGX 450 . From my local supplier it is about the same price as the Corsair 450w. According to this review of the 500w model the fan should not turn on below 150w system power draw. With the 450w this point should be around 135w, which with your ex...

Re: Gonna buy a 3900x which is the MOST silent fan for it?

My local PC retailer is offering two pre-built systems with the 3900x CPU, and also a 3900X CPU/motherboard/cooler bundle deal. In all cases the cooler that is offered is the Corsair Hydro H100x - which seems to me to suggest that air cooling may not be the best option for this processor.

EDIT: Has anyone here has expiriances with Akasa fans? I remember that one year ago I saw post on other forum from one guy who told very good thing about them, especially for radiator fans. This fan has been out for about ten years, it was one of the first PWM fans available in Europe, but was unkn...

It might be worth adding that Silverstone produce two variants of the KL07 (same chassis). These are the RL07 and the PM02. The RL07's main features are a single 140mm PWM exhaust fan rather than the three three-pin fans of the KL07, a tempered glass side panel and a solid front with side intake ven...

Manufacturer's web page is here . Scythe say that it is fitted with the 17mm Kaze Flex 120 slim PWM fan. This is a review (in German) . The previous Big Shuriken 2 had a 12mm fan. Points to note: Some vendors say it is has a 15mm fan. They are correct, the 17mm dimension quoted by Scythe includes th...

According to Fractal the R4 will take a CPU cooler up to 170mm tall (as long as no side-fan is installed). The Noctua NH-U12A is 158mm tall; the NH-D15 comes in at 165mm.

Yes, I wasn't sure which version of the GA-H110M-DS2 you had. Incidentally, there is a page on the ADATA website which will show compatible memory if you enter your motherboard details where it says 'Search by System/Device'.

The memory you are referencing is DDR4 whereas the motherboard as I understand it is the Gigabyte GA-H110M-DS2(DDR3) which won't take DDR4 memory, only DDR3. A...

Yes, that's correct. But stock U12S vs stock U12A shows a margin of 6 to 7C in favour of the U12A. You also need to take account of noise levels, I'm pretty sure that 2 x A12x25s would be somewhat quieter that 2 x NF-F12s, at any speed.

Price apparently will be around EUR/USD 99.90/£89.95, so definitely a premium product. Noctua's tag line is "...140mm class perf...

The stand out 120mm fan, noise wise, is the Noctua NF-A12x25 PWM, provided you have a motherboard BIOS and/or fan software that can get it down it the lowest PWM duty cycle settings.

Yes you are correct about there being no CPU_OPT header. Normally it is where the CHA_FAN2 header is, right next to the CPU header. I think you were right in saying that your 2 chassis fan headers may be from the Asus 'fake PWM fan header' era that only ended when the Z97 chipset was introduced. Tha...

Re: Asus P8Z77-V Pro: Xpert Fan Control for LGA1155

You could run the 3 fans off the CPU_OPT header. This mirrors the CPU settings so any PWM fan, or chain of PWM fans connected to this header will run at the same PWM duty cycle settings as the CPU. I would have expected the 275Q hub to work OK if it had taken its PWM duty cycle signal from CPU_OPT. ...

Re: Why Intel Processors Draw More Power Than Expected

Intel's watt ratings are thermal watts (TDP = Thermal Design Power) not electrical watts. They are supposed to be a guideline for OEMs about how much cooling a CPU is likely to need. And incidentally the ratings are calculated at stock clocks, so they don't take account of turbo modes. So Intel Proc...

Re: How to reduce noise in my setup (and 140mm fan choices)

One of the 140mm Noctua fans I have used successfully is the NF-P14s Redux 1200 PWM. Provided your motherboard BIOS and/or fan control software can set the PWM duty cycle to 16% I was seeing idle speeds in a system of around 200 to 250 rpm with this setting. I know at least some users of this fan pr...
