I couldn't find out what the issue was, but I plugged my hard drive into my brother's PC and managed to enable AAM...wow, what a difference! At least half as noisy as it was before. I can barely hear seeks now, although it is suspended with elastic. Some HD Tach results (average of 3 runs): Without ...

Well the northbridge heatsink is cool to the touch, and all the fans switch off, so it can't be drawing as much power as it does in idle.

A power meter would be a good idea, but that would involve money and/or effort. I was hoping someone here had already done some testing :D

Sleep Mode Power Consumption?

Hi all, I've recently upgraded to Vista and have started using it's sleep mode instead of switching my pc off at night. It starts up much quicker this way. How does the power consumption differ? By switching off my pc i mean it's off, but still plugged in and switched on at the wall socket - so that...

FTool Doesn't Detect WD 320GB - working, got some results.

Hi there, I've got a Western Digital SATAII 3200AAKS OEM drive. I'm trying to enable AAM but Hitachi's Feature Tool can't detect the drive. It says scanning for IDE devices and finds nothing. I initially had the drive set to IDE mode in the bios, but since then i've changed it to AHCI, but it still ...

Hi there

I've got the same motherboard and have never plugged in the addtional molex connector. So far I haven't had any troubles. I posted this same question on the abit forums, and they reckoned it was ok to leave it unplugged.

I've got an E6750 @ 3.2Ghz and X1950Pro, if that makes any difference.

I've got a 1950GT at the moment, but i'm thinking of upgrading. If it fits both the 1950 and 3850 then I won't have to worry about buying a new cooler.

Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 fits HD3850?

Hi,

As the title states, will the Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 fit the HD3850?

Sorry if this has already been asked, but I searched and couldn't find anything.

It's a good board. Download the manual have a squizz. I'm almost 100% sure only 2 of the fan headers can be controlled through the bios and therefore speedfan as well.

I've had experience with a number of 7200.10 drives as well as the 5000AAKS and 3200KS. I would definitely recommend the WD's over the Seagates when noise is the major concern.

Right click -> Insert -> Lame Harry Potter Pun. I've never seen any Harry Potter films or read any of the books, so that one's lost on me I'm afraid. :P I suppose you could say some of a 120mm fan's airflow is "wasted" on the Ultima-90 (actually not a very big segment in practice), but you could eq...

Re: Which Thermalright Cooler? I'm so confused :(

You can mount a 120mm fan on the Ultima-90, as well as a 92mm (it comes with clips for both), and it works very well - I guess the efficient heatpipe layout more than compensates for its relative lack of fin area. I wouldn't bother with a 92mm, unless you're squeezed for space. Seems a waste though...

OK, i have a standard ATX AOpen case with 1x120mm fan at the back. I'm going to make a duct to the front of the case for the PSU (NeoHE 430W) I may also separate the bottom "layer" from the rest of the case, so that the gfx card (1950GT with HR-03 or S1 - don't know which here) and the hard drive ar...

Yup, it's adjustable, but it's not really helpful. The stock cooling is so horrible that you need the fan at 100% when the card is loaded... And then it's loud. It's so damn loud that I get ringing in my ears very soon. I even hear it through my headphones with reasonable volume settings. You might...

X1950GT : Fan Control and HR-03 Compatibility?

Hi all, I'm looking at buying the Sapphire X1950GT. It's around the same price as a 8600GT but with performance equal to, or exceeding the 8600GT by as much as double, depending on the game and settings. So it looks to be a good buy. Power consumption doesn't look too bad either. It's considerably l...

Hi all, 1) Can I use the lower slot on these SLI boards? Will the gfx card run at 16x? well, on the gigabyte DS3R, IP35-E, and IP35, you only have one x16 slot... on the ip35 pro, you run a second x16, but you won't be getting true x16 bandwidth..i think its only x4 for that board for the n650 chip...
