The E4xxx CPU's are to me the next-generation of Celerons, cheap and easily stably overclocked. Why? The E6300 and E6400 run at 400MHz FSB no problem. Add DDR2 memory at 1:1 thats the next generation. My money is on the E4300. If you are going to spend more, buy the E6600. The E4300 will be the nat...

I happened to put my DIMMs in the yellow slots during my initial build, and haven't used the black slots because I have only one pair of DIMMs installed. Black slot instability problems and 1T memory timings issues could be solved in future BIOS updates. Oh, I thought the yellow ones were the prima...

Update: Firestix stable at 800MHz (400FSB) 4-4-4-12-2T, tested with Memtest86 and Orthos. Didn't try higher FSB or lower latency for memory, since these settings should be quite adequate. I topped out at 375MHz FSB (CPU 2.625 GHz, 40% overclock) without increasing CPU core voltage and keeping NB vo...

ASUS P5N-E SLI /w Scythe Ninja rev.1?
Hello all fellow [wo/]men with low tolerance for fan sounds! I'm upgrading from a P5N32-SLI Deluxe - D830 - P180 /w S12-500 system to a P5N-E SLI - E6600 - P150 system. I want to use my original Ninja on my new mobo but I'm not sure it will fit. The nb heatsink looks awfully big. Anyone have this co...

I've only just started my OC. 333MHz FSB w/ sync'd RAM (4-4-4-12-2T), 2334MHz CPU at stock voltages. Orthos stable blending for 2hrs so far, SpeedFan reports 50C for CPU, 38C for MB (Sunbeam Silent Whisper 775 on CPU, stock NB, Zalman ZM-NB 47J on SB, Buffalo Firestix). Nice performance, will rache...

Conroe 6600 temps with Ninja?
Hi, I just assembled a new rig for a friend and Im worried about the cpu core temps. The rig p5b-deluxe p150 6600 w/ scythe ninja plus rev.b +arctic silver no5 I didn't know that they had changed the mountingbracket, I prefered the old one. This one looks fragile and cheap. I have assembled it corre...

I turn it up to something like 3000 rpm, which is quite audiable. But thanks for the tip, I sure can imagine it happening, my rig is n...

Hi, Haven't really been here since I was researching for my build last year. Ended up with a quite quiet and sweet rig, thanx to spcr. Now however I have had some problems. My main issue which is that my computer freezez in bios, dos, win, pretty much everywhere. Sometimes it doesn't even post. This...

Help with Scythe Ninja Installation on a P5N32-SLI Dlx.
Hi, I just want to be sure. There is only one way I can place the ninja right, right? It's rectangle and just won't fit in more than one way on a LG775? This is my mobo: P5N32 Seeing the mobo as in that picture the fastening brackets must be placed vertically right? The same way the pci slots are, r...

I used a Vantec kit and braided a PSU (out of the system) in about 2 hours using the proper pin removers. The only difficult part is the 20/24 pin motherboard connector. To shrink the heat shrink I carefully heated it over a gas stove (don't tell my wife). I was very happy with the results. You mig...

Did you try cleaning it with WD40? Are you sure its worth sending the case back just for the rust? You should try to get the retailer to send you something for compensation or at least a gift certificate Since he offers to replace it and it really isn't the retailers fault plus I got the feel that ...

I was just contacted by another person from Antec Product Development that asked for information about the retailer I got it from, so they are atleast following up on this. Which probably is a good thing. Now I have to figure out how to cheaply send this 16.8kg package back to the retailer......

I guess you fell for the "steel cases are better" thing around here. Antec suffers in the details of their cases, and is still suffering it seems. From warped doors, to broken hinges, to rusty steel parts. There's at least one way I know of to avoid Antec problems........ Seems that the machi...

P180 with rusty screwholes, do I call retailer or Antec?
Just got my P180 home and started to examine it, I found rust, well atleast I think. Is this a common problem with this case? I think Ive read about it somewhere, couldnt find anything by searching here on SPCR. Ive found rust in the screwholes that control the platsic lower and upper chamber divide...

Wonder if Mike C is impressed with the 5c drop? Well but he might not be impressed having a Pentium D EE SLI setup in his lab... Bet you that he got a dark closet were he stacks up with hot intel processors and the gigabyte quad with four 6800GT cards running at their peak in a chassi made of plexi.

Re: which passive MB's are just as good and a lot less $$?
NOAC, which passive MB's are just as good and a lot less $$? Actually my point was, if the mobo didn't have to be passive from factory he could do that himself with the zalman hs. That would give him alot more choices. But looking at other passive mobos Id suggest Gigabyte, they are considerably ch...

Because we only asked the manufacturers to supply a unit for testing, we didn't stipulate the exact model, nor a price bracket. Yes it is expensive, but it is a very good PSU and the 500W is most likely a better choice for just about anyone bar those with a real power hog of a system. Not surprised...

Thanks for your replies. I've decided to go with the SLI-Premium If money is an issue Im guessing the price on the premium will drop, more, when A8N32 is in stock. I wouldn't look at this mobo so much for the x32 pci-e but for the other features. And btw I a factory passive mobo isnt your priority ...

Hi, just thought I would point out that not everyone has bad experiences with Geil RAM. I have only bought two 512MB sticks from them, but they work fine at the stock speed and timings (200Mhz @ 2.5-3-3-6 for the "Value" stuff). Also overclocked to 225Mhz at the same timings and stock voltage, and ...
