Re: HTPC LC17 w/ fanctrl, Bluray, HDMI 1.4, GT430, Opteron 1

really nice build there. If you had a modular psu, do you think you would have any trouble in putting 6 hdd in?

did you have to mod the fan controller at all?

The clear yate loon is nowhere near as quiet as the orange type yate loons. From memory it is a faster running fan and much noisier. Therefore, I would expect this would also be noisier. Either get the orange yate loon or get a nexus.

I just bought one, it's on my desk here right now. I'll report back once I've installed it. Just returned a Seagate 7200.8 300gb. It had that 'patrol seek' running like every 60 seconds, was driving me nuts. PS - It comes with both Legacy & Serial Power connector - does it matter one way or another...

What about the Sapphire passive cooled cards as another option? I have installed a few of thir 'ultimate' edition cards with passive cooling and found them to be very good. Ihave not come across any VIA/ATi problems of late - but know what you mean about problems in the past. From my experiences it ...

Now has 16 pipelines rather than 8 per gpu. Also the 8 phase power which I believe adds heat dissipation.

This isn't a case review, it's a DIY report of an upgrade. Yes, the "reviewer" seemed to have a difficult time with the case, but he doesn't intend to review it — he's just reporting his exeperiences. Save your criticism for when they actually review the case. He's a bit of a dumb-ass system builde...

Why do you want to quiet the floppy drive? It seems like a lot of work for something used rarely. Or maybe you use it often..? The comp has a couple of old dos accounting programmes which need to be used still and they only recognise floppys. It is used quite a bit - plus I hate the noise from flop...

Just out of interest, have you had any problems with the paper clips (bending etc) I can't find the plastic clamps they use in aphonos' method - so I thought I may give this a go instead. I assume you still used the grommets when attaching the hard disks to the cage? I have two hard drives in the c...

One other query, if you remove the floppy drive cage as well, would the suspension hang above the 120mm fan at the front? reason I ask is I had considered attaching another fan to the drive cage and having it such air straight off the cage. I guess it could also be done if it was suspending in line ...

I note that Aphono's suspension hangs off the outside of the 3 1/2 bays. If you remove these bays and then try to hang shock cord off the 5 1/4 bays, there might be some difficulty with the panel door closure on the 3000B. How about putting the Raptors in the drive cage slots 1, 3, 5, and then susp...

HDD Suspension with Nexus DiskTwins

Hey everyone, I haven't posted too many times here before, mainly just been reading gathering info. I have just purchased an Antec SLK3000B, upgrading from an old thermaltake Xaser III (possibly one of the worst cases ever - lethal edges but being heavy steel didn't give off a lot of noise) and was ...

I don't think anyone will recommend anything different - unless you could find a solid state drive that size......but not SATA

So what is everyone's recommendation for a hdd enclosure then?

I would be interested because I have a raptor and don't want to suspend it due to heat (i have 3 other drives I wanted to suspend) and noise
