Use better earphones
People should really use isolating earphones like the Etymotics, Shure, or Westone ones.
Sure, the higher-end ones cost as much as the ipod itself, but they all block outside noise, allowing you to hear the music that much better and at lower volumes.

Here's what I'm looking for: Good quality speakers with a subwoofer. You should probably consider the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 series. http://www.klipsch.com/product/product.aspx?cid=924 The Logitech Z-2300 is likely also worth a listen. http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=217...

I want one.
I want one. What more is there to say?
Of course, I'm also paying off a car and already have a perfectly fine box, so the likelihood of getting this case any time soon approaches zero.

However, if you need be be cautious, how about suspending the entire drive cage? Exactly what I was going to suggest. If you have a large mass being suspended, then the additional weight of the other drives will tend to dampen the vibration of the drive(s) doing the seeking. The probability that yo...

For graphics I suggest looking at the Matrox Millennium line. Absolutely top-quality 2D cards.ist.martin wrote:I want a reliable, no frills web-surfing machine with just enough graphics power to run a high rez panel, but no need for games.

A resistance will cause a voltage drop. If it is a good connector, the voltage drop will be very small. Again, this resistance has nothing to do with the voltage or the current running in the wire. You're not totally accurate here. Ohm's law says that the voltage drop across the resistance will be ...

Re: Effect of extension cables
1) Should having to use an extension affect my choice of PSU? (Cable management/clutter issues taken aside.) 2) Just out of curiousity how much does different extensions actually affect things? I'm guessing extending cables to a fan isn't of the same importance to the system. . 1) The issue with ex...

A problem for me is that I don't have access to any kind of workshop so it would have to be pretty simple for me to make one up myself. Why not just use a block of wood? May not look as pretty, but you can shape it easily and just screw into it. It's also an insulator so you don't need to worry abo...
