Well, let's be honest here, you can't really complain about the faults since it was you who tried to start the drive without enough power, possibly causing damage which then got worse and worse? I've got 4 seagate 400GB disks in my desktop, and another 8 speread across a couple of NAS boxes and have...

For your own sanity, don't get one. They're utter crap (as with most netgear products). Just build your own box.

Check out the problems people have been having on the netgear forums

I just keep all my desktop icons/dumped files (136 of them) on a third monitor so they're out of the way but easy to get to if I'm doing work on the other 2 monitors :)

I bought 5 WD4000YR's a couple of weeks ago, not bad, but not as quiet as my seagate drives (although I didn't expect them to be since they're enterprise disks)

There's no need for a separate ground connection AFAIK, after all, the drive is already grounded through the power connection. Out of all the hdd's I've taken apart (I use the platters as coasters :)), I've yet to find a connection from the cast to any grounded point on the circuitry, it seems to b...

I've been using them and coke bottles for a while, although recently we had some 5" extractor fans fittined in the house and the flexible ducting from them is a perfect size :)

It seems like I'm the only one who has a ground connection running from the drives to the chassis. Don't any of you guys bother about the static buildup on the drive from the constant high speed spinning?

Re: DiamondMax 10 200gb compared to 3 other HDs. Impressions

Hope this help you if looking for a good hd. Personally I wouldn't call any maxtor a good hdd, probably has something to do with 90% of the dead hdd swaps I do for people turn out to be dead maxtors. :P IMO the only thing they're good for is paperweights and doorstops :) Obviously, other people wil...
