On the 4400+ vs 3800+: That's my biggest if right now in this setup. I really like the price vs performance better on the 3800+ but I'm thinking the 4400+ is the step where you are competing with the performance CPUs even in the single core field. I'm kind of stuck in a dangerous mindset right now, ...

Hello everyone. I'm about to buy a new system. Have done research the last few weeks and i think i have most of the details in check but i would like to hear some opinions to hopefully learn about possible mistakes before i make them. Doh! Misssed that it was your thread to begin with. Thought i followed a sidetrack with the tinnitus discussion. ^^ Anyways. I believe you're right about me being better at ignoring it, however I do feel that even when I try and listen really hard it seems like it has actually gotten better. My theo...

Sounds like tinnitus yeah. I've had it for nearly 10 years. Was really hard in the beginning but now I barely think about it at all. I think it has gotten better even, but it might just be that I simply have gotten better at ignoring it. I've found that having something with a slight noise on when y...

Tape all the ventilation holes the PSU don't cover, then the only way for the enclosed department to get air in is past the hard drives.

SO is the extra contact point reason enough to go with a less stable PSU or is the effect negligible. I'm guessing it's not a disaster since many power supplys come with adapters if they lack any needed connectors I just want to figure out if i'd be better off going for another PSU even if it meant ...

Effect of extension cables

The discussion about whether extension cables is something to try and avoid as far as possible came up in my other thread. Here I'm leaning towards a Seasonic S12 for my next build and since i'm going for an ASUS A8N Premium, (might wait to see where the price will start on the A8n32), i'm probably ...

I'm gonna keep asking around to see what people say about in other places, i'll let you know if I find more info on it. If I don't find anything more i think i'm gonna go for the SeaSonic, it just seems like a too good of a power supply to give up on only because of the need of extenders. Where are ...

I searched through the boeards again to find where i read it and I'm think the bolded "don't" might have had me believe it was more of an issue than the post actually suggests. If it fits and you're happy with the system temps and things are stable, I suggest you don't extend the PSU cables. Adding ...

The problem is not usually the ATX main, because that usually plugs into the motherboard in a convenient place (like near the floppy and primary IDE connectors). The problem is usually the 4 or 8 pin ATX12V connector (the black/yellow one), 'cause it typically plugs in up near the keyboard connecto...
