Re: Phenom II X4 955 and Athlon II X4 640 idle power?

also dependson which stepping 955 is in that xbit labs review.

most 955s in reviews are probably C2 stepping which didnt have c1E. C3 955s do have it. so they idle even less.

very much so. it doesnt have a ton of vent holes in the side panels so its basically inaudible. power supply is very quiet too.

my mini review of supermicro CSE-731i-300B mATX server case

so given what i'd call a dearth of micro ATX "high quality" options I stumbled across this case when looking for a new case for a build and wow its actually quite nice. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811152123 is its newegg link. There is a slightly different version the CSE-7...

I don't know what the grunt about SO-DIMM is, aren't they more power efficient and similarly priced, with a form factor possibly allowing more than 2 slots on a mini-itx motherboard? If anything I think sata 6gbps vs sata 3gbps is much more important than the difference in ram as many SSDs releasin...

if you put an am3 chip into a am2 board (not an Am2+ board though) the am2 board doesn't support split plane voltage so it will use more power as there isnt the lower voltage available. so if you used say a am3 chip in a geforce 6100 board vs say a newer board like a 785g it would use a little more ...

At first, even Intel itself can't standardize mounting holes -- there're Socket 775/1156/1366 in the market and they require different mounting clips. Second, AMD has managed to continue using AM2 mounting clips across the AM2/AM2+/AM3 boards, so why do they must ditch consistent, successful mounti...

I was fiddling with the bios of my Gigabyte MA770T-UD3 motherboard and noticed C1E setting "Disabled". I didn't even know AMD supported C1E, I thought this was an Intel thing. I'd say H. For the P you must use a discrete VGA card, with H you can use the on chip IGP or discrete VGA. I believe P can do SLI/CF at full x16 bandwidth, H series cannot.

actually P can do 2 x8 2.0 slots.

H cannot do 2 slots at all.

new athlon ii 250u cpu... 25W tdp..

I was at officemax today and saw a computer that was built into an 18.5" monitor by HP.

Apparently its a 1.6ghz cpu based on the regor core, and there is also a planned 260u model.

Anyone know if there is a place online to buy just a cpu?

the article's benchmarks are not entirely good for interpreting.. http://www.silentpcreview.com/article1013-page4.html so that chart makes the hd3200 look really slow. the problem is they used the 4850e with the hd3200 and the phenom ii with the hd3300 (they are the same chip just 500mhz and 700mhz)...

it uses something like 2 watts-3 watt under idle than the 240 did undervolted so there might be something else there.

you can get a 235e on ebay for under $60 sometimes especially with the bing cash.

i've used a 630 on my 780g based itx setup.

at default voltages using orthos load it hit something like 125 watts from the wall with a kill-a-watt.

idle was around 70 watts.

CnQ won't work if the manual voltage settings(at least on K10). Well, it's not a big matter though That depends on the motherboard. Some of them keep C'n'Q active when undervolting.
