WD is the new king of quiet drives as far as I'm concered.

I just installed 3 Western Digital WD2500KS 250GB 16MB Cache Drives in my Opteron 175 workstation and you can't hear them at all idle and seek noises are very very quiet. I have nothing to mask the drives either because I use silent fans and PSU. One dive vibrates more than the other two, which don'...

Wave master is the my all time favorite case too bad it's loud as hell stock and without major mods and suspension it's impossible to silent. Here's my "Stinger" which should give you air flow ideas (look at bottom of case): it's water cooled with two 5V Yate Loons 120mm on radiator and Seasonic 500...

Cases with HDD suspension?

I asked this at anandtech with limited results so i figure I come over here and ask the pros. I need to build a wkstn with 3 hardrives and want them suspended for quieter operation... I know about the Antec Solo which is a good candidate but it's has a poor paint job with lots of orange peel making ...

New Seagate's, from 7200.7 on, generally suck - they perform a proceedure called "off line scan" when idle making intermintant noise best discribed as "buzzing" they also lost AAM due to a lawsuit filed by I forget whom but basically an injuction was issued for thier alleged theft of the technology ...

Same fan, they just change resistor to swap speeds. All manufactures do same. In essense someone like Yate Loon only has two 120mm models a ball bearing one and a sleeve bearing one. I actually prefer the medium speed "M" since it becomes an "S" at 9V while still being able to ramp up if really nee...

Criminaly expensive? They can be found for under $12 american up here, I think that's quite good. If selling yate loons actually was easy and profitable then the hell with further price cuts, GIMME MORE SELECTION! That's still criminal. I bet these fans cost 50 cents from Yate Loon to Distro or man...

That's a medium speed Yate Loon. I think the Nexus comparable Yate Lonn model is S12SL-12. Anyway, I guess that's how the price structure work in this kind of trade. :) Same fan, they just change resistor to swap speeds. All manufactures do same. This is the medium speed model (Yate Loon D12SM-12) ..just fine @ 7-9V..same as found in fortron 120mm PSU's etc. Unfortunatly they require reseller's licence to get them.

You assume wrong; it's not double. It's around +30% for Intel dualcores right now, maybe a bit more. ------------------- You're guessing. How can one chip use 167W and the second, identical chip, not use the same? Also, the xbit number you cite appear to be for total system AC power draw, NOT indivi...

So basically you can buy the highest end Seaonic and be underpowered on 12 V1. Absolutely not. You have taken the opposite meaning of what I've said. ALL of the total 12V current is available on any 12V lead if it is not being demanded on the other leads. Not if CPU is using 300W like my example. H...

Any CHEAP-QUIET-BLACK 120mm fans out there?

Hi all This is my first post but I lurk a lot. I was turned on to the 120mm NEXUS reading here a year back or so. Anyway I'm building another water cooled BOX with a triple rad up top in Li Lian black tower and need 3 120mm fans black. CFM does'nt matter so much since there is three but silence is e...
