Tried both ATI tray tools and Asus Smartdoctor, neither shows fan control options. Asked the question at guru3d and it seems the card doesn't support fan control. So now I'm stuck with either installing a fanmate on the fan or getting another cooler. So, consider this a bump :) Does anyone know of a...

Cooling an EAX1600Pro quietly
I just put togehter a media center pc using this graphics card: Asus EAX1600Pro And the thing is noise as hell... The thing is this graphics card is low profile and I'm afraid that if I get just any cooler I might get one that won't fit on the card. The case is no problem as it's an NSK2400. I do ha...

Passive EAX1600PRO
I'm planning on purchasing a HTPC. I'm planning on using the NSK2400 case with a mATX AM2 motherboard and a sempron 3400+ CPU. In addition there will be one harddrive and a tv-card. The graphics card I'll be using is the EAX1600PRO because of the HDMI. I was wondering how many fans I will need with ...

thank you for the replies. Isn't it even easier to just get some fanmates? They cost so little it's really no hassle... So WD it is for the HD then, I'll do some bungee suspension if the case has room for it. I'll keep the request for motherboard suggestions open as I'd love more options. Still look...

Quiet HTPC in a NSK2400
I'm back for more computer advice. It seems I never get around to buying this computer, despite all the great advice I get on here, but hopefully this time will be different. After A LOT of considerations, I've ended up with going for a HTPC case and it seems to me that the NSK2400 is the way to go....

Hmm... What bitrate is the norm when storing standard definition television? Didn't think the rates were that high... The recordings will probably not be something that's stored forever, it will be recordings taken when we're not home for instance and watched and deleted as quickly as possible. In a...

I'm from Norway, yes. Hmm, that board seems great. Of course the question is how long it will take for it to hit the market in Norway and how expensive it will be. Can't say that the remote that came with it seemed very good... I'll read the review... Any other ideas to existing motherboards in the ...

Silent Budget Media PC
I'm putting together a pc for my girlfriend. It's going to be situated in our bedroom, so it needs to be as quiet as possible. It's going to function mainly as a media center pc for tv recordings and for watching those recordings, dvd's etc. I've posted this before on these boards, but money made th...

New quiet media system
I've put this machine of for too long and now it's time to make it happen :) I'm building a machine that's going to be standing in our bedroom and work as a media machine, playing video, music and recording analog tv broadcasts. It should be able to do some ffdshow work as well to make the quality o...

Opteron vs. Venice
I was going to buy a 3200+ Venice cpu for my computer, but the shop now has 2GHz opteron cpu's at exactly the same price... It's an opteron model 146, single core and an E6 stepping Venice. What do you guys think would be the best buy? It's supposed to be a quiet machine and I'm currently looking at...

again, thanx for all the help, these boards are great :) About the ram. This being a computer for my girlfriend, I don't think it will be upgraded that often so I'll stick with 2x512MB. About the papst fan connector. It's obviously different from store to store, but I just checked mine at it says 3-...

k, so the Via chipset it is then, removed the nforce4 chipset MB from the list. I'm getting the computer for my gf and it's going to be in our bedroom... The gf part means she has a pretty tight rein on the economy, so going higher than the first option (939) isn't going to happen :) I was also wond...

I thought the Zalman 7000AlCu came with a fanmate already... maybe I'm wrong. Both the ASRock MB's already have passive NB coolers, so no need to get the Zalman passive cooler. So you would take the Uli based card (or what it's called) over the Nforce 4 card then? Only about 10$ difference so I don'...

help with new silent computer
Time for version 2.0 of this thread. After a lot of advice here on the boards and some conversations with a support person on a norwegian webshop, I have changed my original setup quite a bit. I'm looking for comments on the current build. Case: Antec SLK3000B-EC CPU-Cooler: Zalman 7000AlCu Case fan...

Problems with Bulk S12 Seasonics?
I've finally convinced a webshop in Norway to take in S12 seasonic PSU's, but I've encountered a slight problem. The support guy I'm in contact with tells me that they chose to take in the retail versions instead of the bulk versions because "there has been a few problems with the bulk version". Doe...

It's impossible to tell much from that picture. If they were clever, the heatsink sitting atop the NB is very short so it won't interfere with the graphics card. The heat is transferred to the heatsink closer to the cpu where the air usually created by the cpu cooler cools the NB as well... The fan ...
