tips on insulating present hds on budget?

was wondering if anyone may have any idea on how to insulate a hd from the bay mounts in an attempt to make it a bit quieter without spending too much money at all? :roll:

hmm makes me wondering how useless the fan must be for a 'I know how to cool down things and to tell when its too hot' person.

maybe when I get around to it I'll pull the fan power cable out for some time and see how it is like afterward.

posted in http://forums.silentpcreview.com/viewtopic.php?t=7753&start=60 before then thought about it and decided to ask here about if there were any retail kit for them (not the ones for the newer 9x00-series cards) or not really? I know that 20+W might not be much but then the agp slot is next to ...

from the link in the first post of the thread (by MarkC) I noticed that the 8500DV was rated at 16-29W but I was wondering what the 7500AIW itself was actually rated at or is it very similar?

just noticed this thread and I had to say that both projects (this and marko's) looks quite nice. makes me starting to wonder about converting my slot1 system's psu to run fanless as well :roll:

cooling down a via C3 1.4ghz....

first post for me here :)

anyhow I had to ask if this idea could work seeing that via says the design power is 20-21W: replace the hsf unit with a heat pipe system especially in a low height desktop system?

was not sure if this was too many watts to work with or not
