I didn't have the other x1900 in yet
Still waiting to see if DD will take my first Tyee block back and give me the crossfire assembly.
It also helps that I mutilated my P180 for cable routing.

2 oc'd x1900s, oc'd X2, 4-6 hds, 12v pump, 2 optical drives, 4 fans. The s12's 12v rail's 36A capacity is pretty tight for stock crossfire, technically insufficient once you start fiddling with voltage on the x1900s. Then there's my oc'd X2 on top of that and the other 12v devices. I know the PSU ha...

I have an MCR220 mounted on the rear fan mount using a radbox. Nice little loop you have there! A few notes & questions: How long does it take to bleed? Adding a second tee in the line from CPU block to radiator will reduce fill/bleed time to almost nothing. Giving the air an exit helps a bunch. Co...

Zero3RD, that set up looks great, good taste. Love the blue coolant, is that from Swiftech or something else? Regarding D5 vs DDC, the reason I'm suggesting D5 over DCC is for these reasons: 1. DDC with clear top is way more expensive (I love the looks, but hell expensive!) 2. It's noisier than the...

I have an MCR220 mounted on the rear fan mount using a radbox. Two 1" holes were required for hose pass-throughs. Here's a pic: http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/4434/img0017fq6.jpg I'm not sure if you mean the bottom fan mount or the bottom front area. The bottom middle fan mount is a bad place fo...

While that kit is pretty good, I really would like to push the modded DDC as an even quieter performance solution than the D5. Reservoirs aren't really necessary, my first watercooling job used a t-line and it was pretty much hassle-free. The top fan grill on the P180, you can cut out the center hex...

Didn't the original reserator have a low rpm fan? Nope. I have one from the very first batch that hit the markets and it's completely fanless. Hmm must be thinking of something else then. In any case, my point still stands, reserator for absolute silence. About the DDC custom top, you can buy it as...

Barbs are best, push fitting restrict flow and/or create unnecessary turbulence. Some folks over at XS are running clampless on their 7/16 systems, I'm personally just using zip-ties for the moment. The stretch over 1/2" barbs is pretty damned tight. Shielded worm drive-hose clamps seem to be the fa...

Quieter than the Zalman? No. As quiet? Yes, with good part selection and some fan tweaking. If you want absolute silence, get the Reserator Plus, it has no fan versus the regular reserator's 1 low-rpm fan. You will never obtain this level of silence unless all you do is cool your CPU on say an under...

There may be diminishing returns when shrouding 120mm fans on a commercial rad's lower fin-density design. Isn't the point of the shroud to remove the "dead spot" at axial fans hub? However thin/thick your fins are, still the fan has the hub and thus a dead spot. Note I said "diminishing" returns, ...

It will help with stability if your problem is heat buildup. I say if because your oc might just not be stable. Having an external rad or something that will pump heat out of your case will definitely "improve" your cooling performance and water is quite efficient at doing that. Mounting a 2x120 rad...

Shrouds are usually used with heatercore rads I think due to the fin design and smaller size. I recall some of the earlier commercial 80mm rad/fan assemblies being designed with shrouds. There may be diminishing returns when shrouding 120mm fans on a commercial rad's lower fin-density design. Perfor...

And the coolant is also smelllly :D Most waterblocks now have universal mounting systems, and if you're looking to futureproof anything that's got a mount for AM2 and LGA775 will do you for a while yet. Pumps, reservoirs, fittings etc are almost always reusable. And yes, you can use thermal grease r...

Addendum: If you want the best silent pump, I would get a DDC+ with radiical turbo head mod. It's pretty much the best silent option next to the D5, which has a slight high pitch whine to it that a few people can hear. It's more expensive though (and the whine disappears between settings 1-3 on my D...

If you want to learn a bit about wcing, I would say a custom system is better in the long run than a a premade system like the Reserator. In my own P180 I have a D5 pump, a Storm Rev2 CPU block, a Tyee x1900 block, an MCR220 Rad with 7/16" tubing and a t-line. This will beat the pants off the resera...

Undervolting Yate Loon 120mm fans
Can they spin up on their own at 5v? I've read a review somewhere that they don't have enough torque to do so.

fan dampening in P180?
lately my Yate Loon D12SL-12s have been sending out more audible vibration through the case. What's the best way to mount fans in the front and bottom chamber in a P180?

dont know what acetal is.... where does the water pick up its impurities from? metals, tubes or what? Tap water is full of impurities, distilled water is filtered to leave a negligible amount. With most watercooling components, it seems they leave the factory dirty from the manufacturing process, s...
