Re: [Quietest] 180mm Fan possible

For those with a tj08-e

What about replacing the front intake with a quiet 140mm fan?

Re: Silentest 180mm Fan possible

Asus motherboards like the Maximus Gene have built-in voltage controllers on their 3-pin fan headers. Combined with the Asus Fan Xpert you get automatic fan control. I have an Asus Maximus IV Gene Z in a TJ08B-E case at work. Automatic fan control works a treat. Just leave the front fan speed switc...

I have the same case, and even at 750rpm, i find the SS fan noisy. I think i'm going to experiment with the Phobya.

Re: Radeon 7770 and 7750 reviews out

What idle temps are you guys getting on your 7750? I replaced the Asus stock cooler on mine with an Accelero L2 Plus and I'm hovering at 40 degrees idle. in a TJ-08e. I remember the idle temps on the stock asus were around 35-37. I've only been measuring temps for an hour, so could still drop once t...

Re: Radeon 7770 and 7750 reviews out

I have the asus 7750.

Great card for my needs, but i'm thinking an accelero plus is in order, not so much for the noise, which is minimal, but morse for better cooling.

Pico PSU reccomendations for HP microserver

The PSU fan on my HP microserver has gotten noticeably louder in last month or so.

I'm going Pico already.

For those who have done this, what Pico do you suggest and what accessories/cables were required?

4x 2TB Samsung f4
1x 320gb Samsung f4
4gb ram
1 Intel NIC

Thanks for any advice?

So it seems the fan on my N36L is going to crap out soon. It has gotten progressively noisier in the last 2 weeks. I think I'm just going to swap out the PSU for a Pico. What model/wattage of Picos are you guys using?(for those that have swapped) I have: 4 x 2TB samsung f4s 1 x 320gb samsung 4gb ECC...

Re: change PWM fan on GPU?

@ntavlas.

got it. that explains it.

looking at the fan header on the GPU, it seems like a standard 4-pin PWM header, but will check once the fan comes in.

Thanks!

Re: change PWM fan on GPU?

the GPU already has a 4-pin PWM header.

I simple wanted to replace fans with a standard 92 or 120mm PWM fan.

change PWM fan on GPU?

So I just picked up an Asus 7750. Its quiet, but can be quieter. It has a 70 or 80mm PWM fan on the heatsink. I was wondering if I could simply remove the fan and replace with a standard 120mm fan. here's a picture of the fan wiring. http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/HD_7750/images/cooler2.jpg...

The Arc Mini is huge HUGE compared to this case. I mean, its as large as the PC-A05N. It's amazing that they even call it 'mini.' It is a nice looking case though along with the Define Mini.

Re: Shuttle KP10 mini-itx case

it's the Shuttle K-45 without all the internal parts.

I used one with a D510 and 2x HDs. You can get a 3rd HD or SSD in there with ease. The cooling is very good as well, as the 92mm fan plows directly over the CPU socket and parallel to the HDs.

Great little case.

Well, I just got my YL 140mm 1,00RPM mounted on top panel of my A05.

This thing is quiet, no ticking, but it pushes very little...and i mean very little air. I'm running it @1,000RPM.

Re: 140mm fans good for horizontal (on top) mount?

I have the same question for my PC-A05 case.

I'll be getting the top panel with the 140mm mounts, and its not possible to mount the Sycthe (120mm holes).

I've been looking at the Yate Loon D14SL-12, though have not come acrosss many reviews, especially of it Horizontal.

Anyone chime in on this fan?

@alewinsky thanks for the info. This has me really thinking now for my NAS build. I was originally planning on getting the Microserver, but the 200watt version is out of stock at Newegg. Then I got to thinking about my alternative plan which was: Intel DH67CFB3 mITX Intel 2100T (35w) 1x 320GB System...

Re: Currently available (2011) really worthy mini-ITX enclos

good thread. I'm on the same search as well for a good m-ITX case, to be used for a WHS 2011 build. I've narrowed it down to a PC-Q11 or Q08 with a 2100T. Either those 2 cases or an HP Microserver. I just wish the Q08 would have been a bit smaller, and it would have been perfect. The Array R2 is a n...

Re: Where are all the non-HTPC Zacate boards?

spare PCI-E slot is for NIC.

IMO, 4Gb is not overkill for WHS 2011 (2Gb is minimum MS requirement). For, the price-point in US for a 4GB pair and a single 2GB stick isn't too much a consideration, especially with all the crazy deals on memory these days.

Re: Where are all the non-HTPC Zacate boards?

Atom won't work for me, as I need the extra SATA ports and the USB 3.0 would be of great use. There are a few Atom boards with 4x or more SATA ports, Supermicro for example, but for that price, I would rather go with a faster Hudson, and USB 3.0 equipped board. I'll be getting WHS 2011 from a Techne...

Where are all the non-HTPC Zacate boards?

I was hoping to build a simple, fanless, file-server based on the Zacate platform. Obviously, I wouldn't need the HDMI, WiFi, etc., extras. The Asus E35M1-I DELUXE looks great, is the only fanless solution I've seen thus far, but its a bit pricy. Are there any other fanless, mini-ITX (Zacate) boards...

OT, but does anyone have any news of any INtel Atom refresh for 2011? The N570 is something I was hoping for in Q1/Q2.

Re: Improving airflow in Lian Li PC-A05

The BS-03 seems to help a bit, but the top panel with exhaust fan will definitely provide the most benefit. NewEgg's price is pretty reasonable, I think it was like $28 shipped last time they sold it, something like that. The problem is that they only get it in stock like once or twice a year, it's...

Re: Improving airflow in Lian Li PC-A05

I had the BS-06 or whatever the 120mm version was that was for the A05. It was pretty useless IMO, barely exhausted any warm air out.

The way to go is to put an exhaust on the top panel or buy the modded top panel. Unfortunately its $40.

Re: Fractal Design Arc series

the arc mini is nice.

Just wondering about the top-panel-grill. dust build up and noise escpaping.

If they just had 1x 140mm slot, it would be perfect. actually, I wonder if the top panel of the R3 would be interchangeable with this.
