Have to admit - plenty of sarcasm. I am an ardent anti smoker BUT like with all things, if you want to then I think you should - as long as I don't have to pay for it (or anyone else). I have to ask though, what exactly are the "positives" you refered to when you said "The truth is twisted when you ...

I promised myself I'd stay out of threads like this after the whole death penalty thing but I couldn't help myself.... :) Smoking has only 2 problems: butts and second hand smoke. I watched my father die, my uncle die, my best friends father died because they were so totally cool, and independent, a...

Thanks to MikeC and spaceman_spiff. For the moment I've done what MikeC suggested. I'm a little embarassed that I didn't notice you could simply unscrew the supports at the bottom of the case (I thought they were riveted - oops). spaceman_spiff I've seen what you've done before and think it's a grea...

Hi all, I recently got an NSK2400 and built it lovingly with loads of hints/tips/etc from everyone here. However, I've come across one huge problem. I have a Samsung SP 250gb hdd and it makes huge amounts of noise. I used to have it in another comp (sonata case) suspended on elastic and had no real ...

I'm doing much the same as you at the moment so I can highly recommend the XP (or SI) 120. I've done a fair bit of checking around and can tell you for sure that the nija won't fit in either the nsk2400 or the lc17. The XP120 can fit in both (depending on CPU placement). Good luck with the search. G...

Thanks for that ultrachrome. Am I right in assuming that you have the RS 482? I'll only be running 1Gb of RAM so giving up the DIMM's isn't a huge issue. If I can get one of the 120's in I'm hoping to achive SPCR standards of silence (it only will have taken me 2 years since I first visited the site...

I'm planning on getting either the Xp or the SI 120 for use in an NSK2400. Clearly it will fit the case (from has been mentioned above) but does anyone know if they will both fit the DFI RS482 mobo? I've posted this question as a seperate post (apologies for that I know it's not really kosher to dou...

DFI RS482 + XP120 or SI 120
I'm building an HTPC in an Antec NSK2400 and the final component to nail down is the HSF. I'll be using the RS482 MB (as in Mike C's review of the NSK2400) but would like to use either the XP120 or the SI-120 HS. As far as I have seen, cooling ability is pretty similar but I'm not sure (and haven't ...

All the people here a really helpful but I'd say you're not going to get far without giving us some details about what you hope to do with it. Is it for gaming, htpc (porbably not given the case selection), etc. Also have a bit of a read of the "Recommended" lists etc so you have some idea of what's...

micro is totally fine for HTPC. I'd reccomend looking around the SPCR site for comments on the ASUS mobo. I'd recommend checking out the DFI RS482 before you buy anything. It has on-board graphics if you choose to use it (I will be) but also has a PCI-E slot if you want a higher end graphics solutio...

Thanks for all the tips. I won't hijack this thread by going in to details but I wasn't after a micro board just one with on-board graphics (either micro or full). I'll definately be looking in to the DFI board. After spending so much time (about a year and a half) looking through the forums at SPCR...

Anyone having good results with A8N VM CSM?
Hi, I'm currently working on a new HTPC project and was originally going for the A8N SLI Premium. However, since I do NO gmaing at all I don't really need the features that that offers. I decided to look at the A8N VM CSM but it appears they have had nothing but problems. Has anyone had good results...

NeoHE with Athlon XP
hi all, This is my first post here. I've worked hard and read widely on the SPCR forums to get my computer almost silent. Thanks to all who contribute. My final step is replace my PSU. I have a Sonata case with original PSU. I've got it quiet by ducting from the 5.25 bays but it's got the worst coil...
