the way the bottom-filter has to be removed from the case should be just the other way around: from the front instead of from the back.

The Ultimate Amplifier PC [upgrade]

the ultimate amplifier pc was updated with new discs: one 128Gb ssd (crucial m4) and one 2Tb hdd (wd20earx). the 10.000 rpm raptor and the 2 data hdd's were removed. the machine is a lot quieter and cooler now. the upper front fan can blow directly to the rear part of the case and about 25 watt of h...

Re: Lian Li BS-08

Taping an 80/92mm fan to the PCI slots would do the same thing at a cheaper price, as long as you have 4-5 expansion slots to spare. I tried this using a 120mm fan: Twist ties, duct tape, blu-tack, and chunk of beer carton :D An 80/92mm fan would fit into the little area where the expansion slots a...

Re: Lian Li BS-08

i once tried a bs-06 in my solo and the temps actually went up! didn't work at all in my setup. If you use the BS-06 in conjunction with open/vented PCI slot covers, I see a real chance of the BS-06 sucking the hot air it exhaust right back in again. How was the airflow (also in relation to noise)?...

very nice work. i like this case and can't wait till antec updates it with usb3.0 connectors. what i don't understand in your work is the mod and trouble to mount a 120mm fan in the front. 2 90mm fans push more air than 1 120mm fan with similar or less noise. or am i wrong?

Nice build with adequete cable management. It looks like you lack of some fans blowing the warm air out of the case though. thanks. in fact there are 4 80mm fans extracting air from the machine; the equivalent of 2 120mm fans. there are 2 fans in the rear top of the case and 2 on top of the PSU in ...

cool setup. i like the fan midship. normally the right-top area of the motherboard is waaay undercooled in a solo. a design flaw imho.

what is that 'backside' heatsink cooling? where is it attached too?

nice work. however one remark: i also started without any filters in my rig http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=47722 you will be amazed how much dust will accumulate inside after some time. ;-) and how hard it will be to get that dust out. especially from fans and heatsink-ribs.

thanks for the kind words, jipa. the dust i found in the pc after a half year of use despite the antec filter motivated me to think about this. as a result of this thinking i added some foam to the upper part of the front of the case behind the bezel. thereby effectively blocking unfiltered air ente...

Problem is my comp is really not quiet. You can hear it from 5m. I have tried to identify the noisest component and even thou the GPU fan is somewhat loud its not the only problem. Ive tried stoping the GPU fan and even then i can hear the system. I know the Noctuas arent really 100% quiet but they...
